Hi guys! Its true, believe me: I still never played Online in Shift! As soon as we have the 14.00 Rating Race over, I intend to start going there, because I will have cars for everything I think... My question is this: what is the problem with Setups getting used or not Online? I mean what problems or what do I need to do to make my Online Experience as trouble-free as possible? Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences! Rogério

Well, i complained before about the handling online, but its really not much different than career. You just need to get to used to it.
Dont really need assists on, although TC on low or lowering tire pressures will help with avoiding all those who cant drive a lick online.
Monster man(Sunny) and i usually create a race in unranked so we can invite people and keep the room private. Dont have to worry about those who cant drive.

hi
Nothing special in driving! Normally no proplem to drive online! Only Problem is, the most Player wanna spin u out! So be cool, dont wanna to much, and u dont have a problem! after patch next month will be harder, if 12 players are driving one race! could be funny! hope then will work the cars better and the setup works on the cars! with Zonda u dont be in trouble, dont know which cars are without trouble, only my Lambo and Z06 dont work online! TC helps, but u know thats not fast at launch! I drive with ABS online because some cars are really hard to drive without! So try it!

The main change I made was to set car detail to low for better frame rate with other cars present.
I only seem to have setup issues with my 14.0 Nissan GTR Spec V (R35). About 1 out of every 4 or 5 races, 4th is a bit taller, 5th, and 6th gear end up very tall, and the downshifts are slow, similar to the Lancer EVO IX.
I haven't had a true speed bug happen yet, offline or online.
There are only a few fast players online, just look at the leaderboards to see who they are.
I mostly run unrestricted events with the Zonda. Sometimes I get placed into a 14.0 or 10.0 event. Any lower and I leave as I'm not interested. I'm running the EVO IX for the 10.0 relying on the nitrous it has to stay ahead of the partially upgraded Audi R8's. For the 14.0 events I'm running GTR Spec V as noted, but I've been using stage 3 drivetrain, when I could be using racing exhaust instead. I haven't tested to see if there's much difference yet.
Note the three cars I use work well with all assists and auto-clutch off. With autoclutch off, the launch is a bit faster with the GTR and EVO, and much faster with the Zonda.

You'll probably win 70% to 80% of your races, depending on the number of players and your starting position, how short the race is, and how much you get rammed in the early part of the race. This has been my experience.
I've only had a few close races, mostly just one or two other players about the same speed as me. In some 10.0 races, I'm using the EVO IX with nitrous versus players using the otherwise faster Audi R8 (I don't know what parts to setup for the R8 though). I use just enough nitrous to stay ahead, trying to conserve it for the end, so these are sometimes close until I use the last of the nitrous.
There are a couple of very fast players, Ziggel and Zestxkruiz, that are setting lap records at the tracks they run at, but they don't run at all the tracks, and they only seem to be unusually fast at certain tracks.

I had the speed bug last night for one race on one of the Nordshielfe tracks, Aremberg i think. It was during a ranked online race. My GT-R SpecV was doing 170+mph when it normally will only top out at 160mph! The wheel felt really weird too. The acceleration was awesome.

My GT-R SpecV was doing 170+mph when it normally will only top out at 160mph! I get a similar bug, but there's less grip, the gears are taller, and 5th - 6th gears are very tall. The end result is slower for me. At Nurburg (Nurburg), I'm 5 seconds slower when I get this bug (6:13 versus 6:18 in actual races). Part of this could be because I use manual tranny, and I rely on what gear I downshift into to judge my corner entry speeds. Also annoying is that it's happening more often now, used to be just 1 out of every 4 or 5 races, but it's happening twice in a row sometimes. The downshifts are also slower when I get this bug, so maybe I'm losing my drivetrain upgrade. I haven't had any similar bugs with the Zonda R or the EVO IX that I also use.

Tomorrow I will be hosting a PC online game. We will be practising ISRC competitions Donington National with 4.00 cars, Brands Hatch Indy with 6.00 cars, EA's weekly Youtube challenge and maybe some more races. The goal is to practice together and most importantly to have fun. We will start at 17:30 GMT (31.10.2009). If you want me to invite you send me a PM with your IGN. Looking forward for some more racers. So get your 4.00, 6.00 cars and Dodge Viper ready. See you on the track! Confirmed racers so far (will be updated): raptor1201 paul

Well, since only I and paul "signed up", I hosted a public game so we could get more players. We drove time trials at Donnington National, Brands Hatch Indy and Ambush Canyon. I was impressed that I didn't encounter a single racer trying to spin me or push me out of the track. It was a fun evening with Shift.

I was impressed that I didn't encounter a single racer trying to spin me or push me out of the track. Well that's because the game will disqualify the other players if they drive in reverse to get back to your car to hit it (just kidding here). My online experience has varied from race to race, and perhaps the time of day. The worst races are generally the short races with a full 8 player grid. Even though there are no online rankings (other than lap records), some players are a bit overly competitive and try to plow their way through the field of other cars early on in a race. Then there are players that wreck just to be annoying. There were two players, TB3Chucky and TB3JDPepper, that were hosting races at Nordschleife. They were reasonably fast, but in an effort just to be annoying, they would take turns ramming other cars in the race, especially any lead cars. However this was compensated for when Red Arrow, apparently using some hack to speed up the car, was able to simply out run them even if rammed, and he managed to ram them enough for others to get by, and then get back ahead to win the race. Sort of a mixed emotion, he's using a hack, but he's also giving these annoying players a bad time. Anyway after he won a few races, and another guy manage to split them up finishing second, and then first, they quit hosting, probably to avoid that other guy chatting about his winning in spite of their tactics. The bad behavior players seem to be the exception though, but play online enough and you'd find a few. Then again, sometimes it's expected. Already I've seen a few 20 lap races at Hazy 8 with full pits.
