I'm noticed a sever stutter issue and drop in frame rate at Zolder, in the second chicane, just after a left turn. There are a lot of trees on the sides of the track, and the game slowed to crawl while going through the chicane, probably because the scenery is moving side to side in the view while the car is tuning. How fast the car gets there has an effect, so the left turn followed by the right / left chicane sequence are all adding to the load.
I'm getting 40 to 50 fps in the game, and it drops to below 30 in that chicane, and the scenery trees seem to be stuttering at 5 to 10 fps.
Shift 1 had a system senstivity issue, but there it seemed to be that on some systems, there was less bouncing and/or more grip than other systems. If frame rate was slow (40 or less), that also affect lap times.
In the case of Shift 2, it seems to be a frame rate issue, like small micro-pauses (slight stutter) that aren't that noticable during gameplay, but end up increasing lap time by a small percentage, maybe 1% to 3%. 3% would correspond to 29 frames taking 30 frame times, 33 ms of micro-pauses every second, and would be hard to notice during live game play.

I have had that happen to me a few times, my PC is an extreme PC maybe not as fast as Poul's PC but never the less pretty damn fast the first time I race Mount Panorama my PC drop from 60fps to below 30 and ever down to 15 fps, so quit the game and check to see if something was running in the back ground and nothing was running so I started the game back up and race Mount Panorama again and same thing happen so I race another track and there was no problem what so ever and after few races I went back to Mount Panorama and it ran fine just like it is suppose to 60 fps and I never dip below 60fps the only time it dips below 60fps is the track loading screen it gets below 60 sometimes like 55fps but thats the only time... Since then it has happen to a few times but if I quit that track and race another track then come back to the trouble track it works fine again I'm noticed a sever stutter issue and drop in frame rate at Zolder, in the second chicane, just after a left turn. If you guys are running ATi cards try the new Beta driver, a couple of my mates had this prob on Mt Panorama yesterday and the ATi Beta driver fixed it.
Cheers

Cheers I'd be doing the same for it to then bro... My old gtx280 is running at 46 on pit straight and 80+ on the rest of the track, for as many laps as i can run on Mt Panorama, but i'm guessing thats because i'm running in dx10 and dx11 is the prob and needs a driver update. Cheers

This problem also happened to me. 50 fraps in day race and 25-30 in night race... Worse, with graphics set to medium. Strange because I have an extreme computer.
But to my surprise, when I modified the graphics of this game to the maximum, it started to run in 80 fraps for day races and fraps 50-60 for night races.
It is interesting to install all the features that are in the installation folder of the game, directx, physx and others, because in some cases, despite the game running normally, something just going wrong. Sometimes the installer may not install correctly this feature ... I have this example of the previous NFS Shift, where the same thing happened to me. And when I installed directx and physx had in the game folder, I noticed an improvement in rendering.
I also believe that with an update drivers for video card can improve a little the rendering. there is always a driver update video card to improve performance in games. And in the case of the shift 2, I believe will happen soon.
