You can not run this game having the GPU do the Physics - always the CPU - no matter what graphics card you own. It is the way the game has Physics implemented - its software - not hard ware supported. What name are you using online masterblaster72? Problem is that even if you start racing without cheats people will always have doubts - just look at Redarrow who now seems to be racing without using anything - problem is that he is very fast even without using cheats so people will always think he is using something. I used to race him in Undercover where he called himself Max60 - back then me and Cipriani was competing against each other with Cipriani winning 6-7 races out of 10 over me and Max60 was almost as fast as us. Suddenly he was much faster and it turned out you could make the cars go just a little faster by changing driver experience and use it online. Then we knew he was cheating and from then on everybody was using that cheat online. Just shows that now whenever I race Redarrow in Shift I always speculate if he changed anything to run his car just a little faster. But I do not think he has done that these 2 last months since I am winning most of the times we race. Poul It's been an interesting discussion and I appreciate all this feedback as I am learning alot. Gnrkjro the name I use online is masterblaster72. I'm running two 9800GTX in SLI mode with GPU physics enabled. So it can be done, however if it's not reccomended then I'm going to try disabling the GPU physics as that might have something to do with my overheating problems now that you guys mention it. You could fry an egg on my video cards. There is really a world of knowlege on these forums and some very intelligent players in this game. Again thanks for all the feedback. You guys have helped my driving tremendously.

Jeff Sry I know it´s called Physx - my mistake, but we all ready had this discussion about Physx - here and in EA forum. Show me a screen photo where it says Physx GPU accelerated if you can, and it needs to be a player owning a copy of Shift - not some EA official crap. Here is a screen shot of mine using a 285 GTX with Physx enabled, as you can see it is the CPU doing it. Poul

Show me a screen photo where it says Physx GPU accelerated if you can. It was at another forum, about getting Physx to run in GPU mode on Shift. If I find it again, I'll repost it here later. This could be a hack to the game, or the poster could have photoshopped the image.

Is there a way to meet up with certain persons in Shift online? Like creating a private server or something?
Thanks,
B.

yes.create a lobby in unranked mode and set it from public to private. then, in the lobby you can use the messenger to invite the people.

I've been online for the last few days. Looks like GreenMonster is the last of the early players that still play NFS Shift regularly. For some reason the group that GM (GreenMonster) races with are mostly running 10.0 cars mostly Stingrays, except GM also uses a 10.0 Dodge Challenger, which is surprisingly fast.
I also ran with a group that was running 10.0, but not using any of the normal cars, instead using cars like the Civic, then accusing some of the faster Stringray drivers of cheating. I was using the Evo (it was the best 10.0 car before the muscle cars got added) to not get noticed.
Seems like activity is way down, but that could be because I live in California, and get online too late and miss the peak times.

To bring the discussion back on track, I am still playing Shift online. On PS3 there is plenty of action, many new racers.
Surprisingly on PC, there are still a few racers around, most of them good and fair players. The competition can be quite intense. The odd track-cutter abounds, but the outright cheaters seemed to have moved on. On Spa I can nearly always combat the track-cutters by posting better times, but not so easy on Donnington and Silverstone.
On some tracks I have improved on my personal best times, which is quite satisfying really.

I am still finding Shift online play in general a rewarding experience. Last night I improved my PB on Spa from 2:03 down to a 2:01!! If I can get to that elusive 2:00 I will be stoked. The fun factor of Shift just can't be beaten in my opinion. Happy to try other alternatives though. Too bad Shift 2 was not an improvement.
