That bug happens when you add "need for speed" skill (increases top speed). 1/3 is marginal, but 2/3 and 3/3 get stuck in 5th, unless you keep tapping "shift" key while going downhill (and maybe if using nitrous). With 1/2 BMW went 200 mph, with 2/3 it went 211 mph during a pursuit, got a reckless driving. It wasn't good for racing, because even with tapping "shift" key it takes several seconds before it finally shifts.
I reported this at ea forums earlier today, and also a bug report.
Turns out that's the "uncompressed" size. The download was about 550MB, same as before, no new areas, except for the discovery of the "showcase" city that's off the main map.
I took a pair of videos, showing leveling up the hard way by racing the Nissan Silvia until I had enough cash to buy the BMW. The BMW videos is the last run I had with it before the "need for speed" 2/3 upgrade I applied at level 20 glitched the car. You can see the wire mesh crash effect in the videos. The cars are also faster than previous betas:
The scariest part of a long pursuit mode was knowing the game could crash while you were 20 to 30 minutes into a pursuit. The instant cooldown power up compensates for the game spawning cops and/or road blocks everywhere while you're in cool down mode if at heat level 5. The stadium cooldown spot often doesn't work because the game spawns a road block too close to that spot.
CmdrTomalak (PC/PS3/PS4): Yep. Dead. Dead. Dead... Somebody should put it out of its misery. It all started waaaaaay back when Most Wanted came out and we all met on the EA forums and decided to branch out on our own. Sad way to go...

Tonnzzaah (PC/360/PS4): And unfortunately, the way Need For Speed games were for quite long time didn't help this place at all, for starters, I dropped off from NFS games completely. I did get both Shifts, Hot Pursuit (2010) and later Rivals, but they weren't enough...

Chandrian: I don't know how many of you know, but for a while, NFS World has worked very well on a public online server (probably a month or more since it became more stable), containing over 150k registered players.

Chandrian: The sync is now allowing races with more than 2 players, and pretty much all original NFSW features are working. The best part is that everything is available for in-game cash on this server.

Chandrian: You have to start with a new driver profile, but the progression isn't that hard. If you wanna play NFSW online again, then I advise downloading the launcher of this online server and also joining this Discord server:
