Hi all!
I yesterday got my 5850 into my Case! ^^ Wonderfull Card... With my 8800 GT I had almost everyone Low and Shadows Off to have decent fps, nowI am full detail and goes from 75 to over 120 fps, at 1680x1050! ^^ Great stuff for my E8400, which clearls limit the Card... No matter what settings I have, all fps are similar! ;P
I uninstalled Nvidia Graphic Drivers and also Physx... Is there anyone here who has Physx installed with ATI? And is there any difference? :S
Thanks in advance!
Rogério

I was wondering the same thing. I unistalled everything Nvidia and physX when i switched cards and since i have had one problem in Shift. If i use custom paint, it looks "blocky or low res", as long as i use stock paint or stock liveries it looks ok. Didnt have this problem with Nvidia card and havent seen where anyone with ATI has this problem yet. How do your cars look with custom paint scheme Rogerio? Ill take a screenshot and post so you can see what im talking about.

Congratulations Rogerio with that graphics card. I sure hope you will make some videos of actual realtime racing now that you have high fps when playing. Rogerio I do think that Shift Physx is done by the CPU and not the GPU. Just checked and yes it is done by the CPU - look at the picture. Poul Poul

Sorry you can not see it in that picture - FRAPS would not show it, had to use print screen and paint, but here you go. To see if a game uses CPU or GPU you go into Nvidia control panel and in the 3D settings you check the Show PhysX Visual Indicator. Poul

When it's turned OFF the CPU is used for Physx. When it's turned ON the GPU is used for Physx. I'm using the GTX275, but I can't find the option to see it in game...

Another thing; It is possible to use a dedicated PsysX graphics card that do all the PhysX work as long as it is from Geforce and uses Nvidia driver. It need to be at least one from the 8800 series and up. And you can do that with your ATI 5850 doing all the rendering. There is a patch that enables this but you can only use if if you use Windows 7. I searched the net and found this link Rogerio. You really wanna read from that page I linked and then 2 pages ahead. It works as you can see people using an ATI card and then a Geforce as dedicated PhysX card. But do it at your own risk, because I am unable to assists since I do not have an ATI card. Richard could you show me a picture of Shift with PhysX enabled with GPU doing the processing? What driver version are you using? It should be called PhysX enabled or disabled. This is how mine looks. Poul

Hi Poul! Thanks for the input, but I will not enter into experiments! ;P If WCG has NFS, it will be with just ATI, so I better stick to it! Also, my Power Source will probably not handle both cards (its a Coolermaster 550W). Thanks again! Rogério PS: I will install Windows 7 in the coming weeks, I think.

it will ,rogerio. My system with GTX285 ,i7@2,78 Ghz needs 300W. I've also a 550W BeQuiet DPP Two 5850 would be too much ,but HD5850+ 800GT would be okay;) But, why does WCH use always AMD Graphics? Does AMD sponsor em?

Somehow I can't get a picture with the Physx-CPU, but it says indeed Physx-CPU in game and not Physx-GPU, strange, but could it be we got a CPU that doesn't need support???
