Well, Porsche 2000 is (as the name implies) already nine years old. So I think you might be expecting too much. It indeed can't get much better than this.
However I noticed your number plate isn't displaying the letters all too good. I think this is hardware related. I used to have this game installed on two different computers. The one with the better specs (a newer one) actually didn't display any of the lettering well. However the older showed them just fine. About the other textures, well I've never been able to do better. And the draw distance of your background is the best I've seen so far from Porsche 2000.
How are your menus displayed?

Porsche has some problems with new gfx cards and operating systems unfortunately. But I am sure Jeff knows some tweaks for this game.

But I am sure Jeff knows some tweaks for this game. The menu and hud displays get garbled on newer (less than 5 years old) video cards, and perhaps the license plates. The work around is to go into your video driver settings and force antialiasing on regardless of game settings. This will also get rid of the grainy looking surfaces on the tracks. Increasing the ansitropic filtering with your video driver settings may also help improve the look. (For the older video cards, the fix was to force ansiotropic filtering instead of anti-aliasing). Here is a recent video I made using the Gulliver cheat code to enable toy cars: rcgldr.net/nfs5/n5toyw.wmvAnother video showing how to go off track at Zone Indusrielle: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ntri7eDzsBU&fmt=22

I read somewhere, that the game forces low quality textures, if it's run with a processor that is faster than 1 GHz. I haven't yet found anything that would fix it. Jussi

How are your menus displayed? They look great, I think... Help me! I installed NFS Porsche and got the text issue fixed with ATI Tray Tools and Alternate Pixel Center option, but now... ...nothing happens when I try to press the key I want. Does anyone know how I can setup my keys? Jussi Yes, that's my other (real) problem: NFS Porsche controls can't be configured? Jussi

OK! Here's where I started... ...and this is what it looked like patched... ...and this is how it looks with 2xAA and 2xAF... Now the car starts to look nice, but the AA and AF also make the text in the menus a bit less sharp. Jussi

If you follow the wiki link you posted, you get to mip mapping: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MipmapThese are a set of increasinly lower res versions of the textures, meant to be used for objects that are farther away from players view. The filtering is a type of antialisasing to combine those mip maps at intermediate distances, for a smoother transition between the various low res versions of textures.

Thanks! I read the wiki-stuff and to my understanding AF is like buying new glasses. It helps you see clearer to further. Jussi
