Yea I do think, I made comment of you're PSU one other time. I thought it looked like something from the future. I google you're PSU and it cost $249.00 here in the states. I like you're entire PC, How many CDROM drive bays do you have? it looks to be 4 or 5 and your hard drive must be front loading.
Send me a link to your chassic/box, I like the way the PSU is on the bottom pulling air from the video card..
in the USA we also have grounding straps that are beat down into the ground 6 or 7 feet to ground the house to earth ground. I thought about it after I posted it,,, it might be me picking the static, even though I am sitting down in a chair not moving around to much... less that 2 feet from my computer.
I just looked at what PSU best buy had and for $119.00 I could get a 750W, 750W might work for when I upgrade to a i7 processor....... I will get the HX if they have it,
however it still snowing like hell outside, I might have to wait a few days. we are getting 6 more inchs of snow tonight.... Do you know how many shovel's of snow are in 6 inchs? A lot Sunny

I still think you need to use more than 40% fan speed mercedesclkgtr to cool it effectively. Have you tried running at 100% fan speed? I do not think its your motherboard that is causing your PC to freeze - it is most likely your GTX 285 that becomes too hot. Do not worry about 100% fan speed - its designed to run that fast. To Sunny. Yes its quite expensive my PSU and so is the Antec twelve hundred case its in. www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129043www.antec.com/Believe_it/product.php?id=NjkzThe nine hundred two is a bit smaller, bus of course also cheaper. www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129058My case has 12 drive bays, but who needs that much? My PSU is located at the bottom yes. I could install it at the top, but then I had to remove my 200 mm top fan. Poul

but what i dont understand is why was it running perfectly fine the other day when the temps were in the 80*s? but tonight the temps were in the 60*c range.. if it was the card getting too hot wouldnt it freeze up before it would reach the 80*c temps that it was running at the other day ? i'm not trying to be a asshole or anyhting like that.. but its just strange that it seems to happen at any sort of temp. the highet i've run it is 92% tonight.

Hey Mercededclkgtr
I just remembered something here, my GTX 285 sometimes automatically starts to run in idle mode. I was just playing and suddenly my fps were very low. It happens sometimes and for no reason - could this be what is causing your game to freeze when you are racing online? The only reason why I know my graphics card starts to run in idle mode is because I always have FRAPS running. Right when this happend - when fps were VERY low - I minimized the game and opened GPU-Z to see what the sensors said and indeed it ran core 300MHz, memory 100 MHz and shader 600 MHz. I think if I had been playing online my game would have crashed. Have you always FRAPS running so that you can see if fps are the same when you crash? I always need to reboot my PC when this happen. I can not just start the game again - then my GTX 285 will still be running in idle mode. Strange and I never experienced this in any other game.

Hey Poul thank you for those link, My next box will be the 900 the one smaller than yours, 8 drive bay is alot of space,
with the new TB hard drives, most people will only need one or two. I saw a 2TB Seagate for $179.00 dang thats a lot of storage Space. When I started working at Dell Computers back in 1989 the biggest hard drive was a 70MB MFM drive it was as big as a lunch box and weight 40lbs, so we have came a long way in hard drive technology.
I didn't end up getting a new PSU, when I took my logisys PSU back to the store for a refund the tech found a label from the PSU stuck in the fan cause it to not move, after removing the label the PSU is working correctly now.
I have another question for you while I have your attention. I need to replace my heat sink, I don't know what my foot print is, I have a 3.2GHz due core Intel, Its an Intel Extreme processor, Last week when I was at best buy they didn't have a replacement heat sink for my CPU, So I need to order online.

aww 775 I'd seen those numbers on the mother board when I had the heat sink off. I bought this chip in 2006 one of the very first due core processor available on the market. At that time it wasn't called Intel Core 2 duo. Just plan due core processor.
price is optional

Poul that thought hadnt crossed my mind.. is there any way to change the GPU settings to its never at idle? i run fraps every time i race online ( incase i want to record a few races or cheaters). when running its holding fast at 60-70FPS, when recording it drops down to around 30-40FPS. doesnt matter if its recording or not when it freezes up. i'm not able to check anything on my desktop as the mouse freezes up aswell. the more i think about it the more it could be the motherboard. everything else is brand new almost, new CPU, new RAM, 6month old graphics card, new PSU, new watercooling... the current motherboard had trouble accepting more than 4GB of ram ( 2 of the slots wont accept them). anyway, i've just ordered a new LANparty motherbaord. if its not this... guess its time to upgrade the GPU... i'm thinking long the lines of a GTX 295 ( 1.792MB)

Hey mercedesclkgtr Well have you checked to see if any of the cable heads to your hard disks are damaged? Some time ago one of my memory slots would not recognize my RAM stick - no matter which of the 3 sticks I put in it. This meant that I could not run triple channel and was left with only double channel. I replaced the RAM, but same problem. I tried everything, but nothing worked and I could not BOOT the computer using only one stick in that slot. That made me think I had a faulty memory slot. But I was not going to get it replaced just yet. I knew that if I needed to send it to service it would take like 3 weeks for them to check it. At some point my 2nd hard disk was not being recognized by the BIOS and this is the hard disk I use when I use FRAPS. When I was about to reattach it again, I saw that one of the heads on the cable going into the hard disk was damaged and I replaced it. I then rebooted and to my surprise I was now running triple channel - the 2nd memory slot was being recognized by BIOS So check all your cable heads to see if any are damaged - just by a little. The cable might work, but it may also cause some other things not to work correct. You may think this sounds weird, but I read about another guy who experienced something similar. About your freeze problem: The only way to check if it runs in idle is to have GPU-Z running in the background while you play and have it log to file. You open sensors and then you have it set to log file and you start racing. Then when you crash you reboot the computer and you open the log file in your library to see if your graphics card was running in idle mode when you crashed. It is a great application - you can even see the temperature which I think will be very high when you crash. Just check that log file and I think you will be surprised. www.techpowerup.com/downloads/1709/TechPowerUp_GPU-Z_v0.3.8.htmlPoul

Mercededclkgtr I was just online practicing with Aaron and my PC locked up once and later I had snow on my screen. When it locked up I had not GPU-Z logging in the background, but i had that when I got snow on the screen. From the logfile I can see that the reason to why it locks up is the GPU load. When I race it is 98% and when I am just in lobby it is half of that. Now when I raced with Aaron and we came back to the lobby, suddenly I got snow on the screen. I then know my graphics card is having a problem.
Luckily I had set GPU-Z to log file and when I had rebooted I opened that to see the numbers and it showed a GPU overload of 159% and a memory overload of 169%. The card ran in idle mode when it got that overload. Now whether it is a driver problem causing this or it is because I had overclocked it too much - don´t know. i will run again with no overclock to check and if it happens again I will change driver to see if that helps.

Sunny How are things with that 250 graphics card from Nvidia? I assume it costed you like 150$ for that one, but if it need to be a Nvidia you want I just read a review of a GTX 260 from Gigabyte called the Gigabyte Geforce GTX 260 Super OverClock Video Card. It really kicks ass and it outperforms even a GTX 275 and a GTX 280. When the Gigabyte GTX 260 Super Overclocked is even more overclocked to its max, it will really kick ass. It costs only 204$ and that is cheap for a card that runs this fast. It is without a doubt the fastest GTX 260 on the market it says so in this review: www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticle&number=1&artpage=4450&articID=981 It is same price point as Aarons 4890 from ATI - perhaps the 4890 is just a little bit faster, but not by much and its the best price/performance card Nvidia has to offer at the moment. Edited: I just found this article form Anandtech that shows you that this card is even faster than my GTX 285 and Aarons 4890 when the card is overclocked - outstanding. www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3656&p=14But remember that the 4890 from ATI and the GTX 275 will again outperform the Gigabyte Super Overclocked GTX 260 when they are heavyily overclocked and not running stock speeds. Here is the Gigabyte SOC at newegg: www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125294Poul
