I have tried it on my dad's laptop, and I wasn't too impressed to be honest. Seems just as unstable as Vista, but, it does have a few improvements. I havn't actually tried the officially released version, but, I'm sure I still wouldn't be too impressed. Not to mention, I'm not a fan of the new design either.

I got Windows 7 with my laptop I would say it's the best Windows ever it's quicker and easier to use. The thing I like most is that I can play more games with it. Paul

I just installed Windows 7 Home Premium OEM version. I think my G25 wheel must have calibrated 15 times during the process, with all them system restarts during installation and after driver updates. I then had a problem getting access to the internet, because Windows update had installed some bad driver for my Realtek Gigabit Ethernet - it took me some time to realize it was that driver causing my troubles.
Now I have an even bigger problem - I have no idea where my registration key is for Shift? That manual inside the case I am afraid I have lost during a cleaning - my god that was bad luck. Anyway hopefully EA support will provide me with a registration key so i do not have to go out and buy me a 3rd copy. Wait - maybe I can play the download version I got? Then I need to install EA download thingy again.
All these problems are killing me. Anyone by the way seen the author of this thread? Tom where are you?
Poul

I had to replace my hard drive this week, so i bought Windows 7(64). So far i really like it. Definetly faster than XP in every way, but im wondering how much of it is because im starting with a clean install and drive.
Im really liking the 64 bit, everything looks great! There is a noticable difference in Shift graphics at the same settings as before. With 24" LG monitor with HDMI cable, pics and videos look fantastic! Avatar(great movie btw) looks better on my pc then on my tv!
Replaced my old drive with 500gb 7200rpm seagate(all i can afford at the moment).

I have a Seagate too:) But I think I'll stay with my Vista, the version number of 7 says everything : 6.1 (Vista was 6.0) It's good, but nothing phenomenal beeing convincing;)

Hey Aaron I really wish you would have told me you had to replace your hard drive. You do not want your operating system on a spinning disk, you want it on a SSD and then all the other stuff you put on a HD. Look what Anandtech wrote a few weeks ago about the best deal at the moment for SSD´s. You could go buy a couple of SSD´s and put them in RAID and have blasting fast performance - means your eye will not even notice when applications pop up on your screen and the read speed is out of this world. More important for daily use is the seek time of course - faster than any HD drive will ever be. You could have bought a couple of Intel X-25-V and put them in RAID-0 for only 250$ or bought only one and used that for your OS and installed Shift onto it. Then you would keep the Seagate HD for FRAPS. Read this article from Anandtech showing you what a pair in RAID-0 could do for your system - its awesome performance - wish I could just sell my Intel X-25 G1 and swap it for a couple of those babies. www.anandtech.com/show/3618/intel-x25v-in-raid0-faster-than-x25m-g2-for-250Poul

Hey Poul,
I have read that article and would love to have a SSD, but i just cant afford it at the moment. With buisness being so slow the last several months, having to pay income tax, property tax and insurance on 2 houses is killing me right now. My taxes and insurance went up again this year.
Hopefully this summer i will get a SSD(and build an i7 pc). My pc is considerably faster right now than any pc i have ever owned, so im pretty happy at the moment.
Another thing i have notice is, with fraps running in Shift, my frame rates are constant now. No more going from 35fps to 80fps back down to 35fps in a matter of seconds( on some tracks). Frame rates stay between 60 and 80 all the time while racing, which makes Shift run alot smoother.
