Furmark will not make your CPU run 100% load and it is that you need to be worried about when you overclock. Some times your CPU load will peak during gaming or if your PC suddenly runs a scan or whatever and it is then your temperatures will be the highest. This is very important considering how hot it gets in the US Aaron. The hotter room temperature the hotter CPU temperature. I know that when playing Shift my CPU runs like 20% - 30% load I can see that on my G15 keyboards display screen. You should try running a program like Prime95 that will really hurt your CPU, but have Everset run at the same time so that you can see if your temperatures go through the roof and you better make sure to be quick about shutting down Prime95 if that happens.
About that stutter - yes of course a faster video card will make you able to play in higher resolutions. Did you try to open Nvidia control panel and see if the settings in there are what you want to play with?

Probably 4 to 5 times an hour. So far everything is fine. I have all settings in Nvidia control set to performance or high performance.

Well I am glad to hear that. Now you can go overclock that GTX 250. You will see an increase of perhaps 10-15 fps if you are lucky. Run Rivatuner and start with small increases of 10 MHz. You will then need to run Furmark each time. First time Furmark freezes you set back 5-10 MHz again and leave it there. Poul www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Video-Tweak/RivaTuner.shtml

After thinking about this all week, i am now thinking of getting the HD 5850(can always add another later), probably this week. It will do what i am looking for now.
My GPU currently gets as hot as 81 degrees C. Is that high? I couldnt find my video card on newegg as its made by BFG Tech, but it is already overclocked as its the OC version of GTS 250.
Next year, i plan on building the pc i wanted to build this year, just for gaming. Using i7 MB, CPU and 2 video cards(will get back on this subject again then).

You will always be able to overclock higher than your current settings. Perhaps even more so because your card is not a vanilla card but an overclocked one. The temperatures are high and i am not sure what the safe limit is - perhaps it says so in the manual. My GTX 285 never get above 60 but I also have another cooler than the stock one.

What about that $400.00 thats burning a hole in your pocket? 4 pages of discussion about what kind of video card should I buy and now we have to wait till next year. That's what your said last year and last year is this year 81 Celsius is darn hot 177.7 degree's Fahrenheit compare to Poul 60 Celsius which is 140 Fahrenheit. Maybe you can afford a better fan to cool things off a little. www.wbuf.noaa.gov/tempfc.htm So your not going to buy dual cards? little buddy I wanted to see if it was going to work or not. Now I have to wait till next year chit by then I wont even care. I'll just get my own i7 Aaron you should look at how clean the inside of Poul's PC is and break out with a few tie wrap and clean up that cabling issue you have going on there. Your PC looks as if a blind man build it. [glow=green,2,300]Monster[/glow]

Well, before this thread i was going to get a GTX 285. Now im getting , in my opinion, a little better card. Also learned some things in the process. I also didnt expect the economy to be this bad last year. I made the wise choice by waiting. About the cable issue, you can come over any time and do that for me.

I am having a hard time finding a HD 5850. Everyone is out of stock. Would anyone happen to know of any online stores that would have one in stock?
I am waiting for an email notification from Newegg when they get them in stock.

After reading this article that Poul sent me - www.tomshardware.com/reviews/build-balanced-platform,2469.html - i decided to go with the HD 4890. I ran 5 different tracks last night in Shift and i was averaging around 65-70 FPS at 4x anti-aliasing, where i was averaging around 50-60 FPS at 2x anti-aliasing with GTS 250. The biggest difference is when i record with fraps. Before i had to set resolution at 1280x720 and graphic settings(car, shadow and background) on medium to get a smooth frame rate. Now, i can record at 1920x1080 with 4x anti-aliasing and graphic settings on high! I am very pleased and saved some money. Something a little odd, in Shift, the track and background are considerably brighter while racing. Hud and all menus look the same though.
