Going to be starting to play world again after a rather long time. Basically EA messed up the game pretty badly with 3 major changes that they did, so you should be aware. 1. Ultra parts As if 3 stages of upgrades weren't enough (with 2 of them only being available for luck and speed boost), they decided to add another one to get even more money out of the game. 2. Skill parts The overall driver skills got removed and instead every car has its own skills now, coming from up to 5 parts that you can install in it. Effective parts are only available for luck and speed boost and even with the best ones you can't have all of the usefull skills at the same time because you only have these 5 slots. So you will now have to decide between perfect start, strong nitrous, early powerups and a powerful ram against traffic. Obviously like with upgrades you can only sell parts after you installed them and can't just put them back into your inventory. So if you want a Porsche that is perfect when racing with powerups and one that is perfect when racing without them, you will now need to buy 2 Porsche because you need different skill parts for that. 3. Car classes Jussi already posted all the things that came with this new patch. The worst one however is the fact that only very few (random) tracks are available on every day, while the others are blocked, which basically makes it impossible to have any decent competitions in this game in the future because you never know which tracks you will be able to play.

1. Ultra parts As if 3 stages of upgrades weren't enough (with 2 of them only being available for luck and speed boost), they decided to add another one to get even more money out of the game. Wrong! Car classes have made Ultra parts obsolete. They are only really needed for S Class cars. 2. Skill parts The overall driver skills got removed and instead every car has its own skills now, coming from up to 5 parts that you can install in it. Effective parts are only available for luck and speed boost and even with the best ones you can't have all of the usefull skills at the same time because you only have these 5 slots. So if you want a Porsche that is perfect when racing with powerups and one that is perfect when racing without them, you will now need to buy 2 Porsche because you need different skill parts for that. Wrong again! For a low level player like Kasper, skill mod update is a salvation as he will now be able to compete against high level veterans on even playing field. 3. Car classes are an excellent improvement as you can now have a better chance of winning the races with your favorite cars, meaning the ones you like, not the kings. The only thing wrong here is the fact that organizing community racing competitions is now somewhat impossible. The game itself as an online game is better than ever. Jussi

I've started playing it, last night and despite the gem hunt thing being a bit lame I enjoyed it, don't see me doing any races anytime soon, since even in most wanted and carbon I was a freeroam person.
It's been so long that I had to start a new account seeing as the one I had seems to no longer be. It's ok though, I'm enjoying the GTO I selected.

For a low level player like Kasper, skill mod update is a salvation as he will now be able to compete against high level veterans on even playing field. If performance matching worked properly, then lower level players would never have been racing against higher level players. I've always felt that EA is using an imbalanced playing field as a tactic to get players to spend money on the best boost exclusive cars and to spend money gambling to get the best parts. 1. Ultra parts ... to get more money from game Agreed, the ultra parts weren't needed, but similar to ever increasing performance speed boost exclusive cars, a new level of parts EA is hoping to get players to gamble for with real money. Before the skills mod change, most level 50 players probably had 15 maxed out skills that applied to all cars. Now there are 6 slots for each car, but some skills require two slots to max out. Currently the skill mods seem to be dropping at a failry high rate, but it seems the idea here is to get players to buy more cars, and then having to get performance parts and skill mods for those cars. Performance skills (top speed, acceleration, handling) are just gone now. Ram skill was reduced several times from it's orignal value of 150% (or 200% during beta sessions), to 75%, and now with skill mods, it maxes out at 50%, and players report that it doesn't seem to have any effect. The main issue here is that many tier 2 and tier 3 cars have been merged into class A, making the imbalance for these cars worse, and most of those tier 2 cars players spent months farming parts for are no longer competitive cars. There aren't enough events. All In at Class E with a 4 minute limit is very difficult and only a small percentage of players can complete it in time. This used to be a popular event for grinding, but useless now, since most of the time only 1 or 0 players will complete it. Price of cars was increased a lot. Lucky draw cars occasionally include more cash, but overall it will take longer to buy cars. Repair fee which is just an annoyance to sell boost (for durability insurance) is now $375. Lucky draw cards apparently no longer reward rep. Pursuits have become so difficult that I suspect the activity is way down. It seems that pursuits were tweaked to increase consumption of powerups. Some of the Team Escapes are reasonable, but All In has become very difficult. Players now get more free car slots, and there are more in game cash cars (but not the competitive ones), but players will still end up having to farm or gamble for performance parts. There are bugs in the updated performance stats. In the case of cars like the Viper or Z06, handling decreases as you add performance parts. In general what's happened is the rewards that players earned by leveling up have been taken away, and replaced with a system designed to sell more speed boost. My guess is that the long time players have been spending less on boost in the last few months so EA is focusing on newer players instead.
