Ok now i thought i would continue this thread now that im doing stuff to the car, ill do a catchup so new members know whats happening
Well i found a 1970 VG Valiant. So Far shes cost me $1800
$1200 Initially for the car then $500 toget her towed up to QLD from NSW. She arrived Saturday at midday and well im very very happy with what ive got
Motor wise i dont think i could have got a bettor motor. for a car thats been sitting in a yard for a long time not doing much i didnt expect the motor to be that great. Well i was wrong the motor is strong and starts at the first turn of the key everytime.
The only real problems are the rust inthe rear quater which is the only bad rust in the entire car and also the ummmmm well brakes they decide when they want to work and when they do work, only the fronts just work being the front right barely stopping the car and the left front fully locking up as soon as you hit the brakes sending the car left.
The plan:
So far the car is getting a full rebuild, repainted in murcury silver with the black pacer stripes, interior is to be black and silver with the addition of a higher model gauge cluster, its getting a 4 speed manual, 350 holley and extractors maybe more maybe less ,
Some info:
The Motor is a 245 cubic inch HEMI 6 cylinder,
I just took the Borg Warner 35 auto off of it, funny fact about the BW35's is they were only made to be put onto 2.0 litre motors and here valiant is hooking them upto 4.0 litre motors and 4.3 litre motors, no wonder why the the gearbox destroys itself when you floor it
Im now upto bodywork, now that the car has been stripped and its going to be a hard road getting her ready by the deadline, 1st of June 2010 or if that doesnt happen 27 of July at the latest, i wanna debut it at MOPAR SUNDAY which is held on the 27th
I recently got a photo into a magazine of the Val, blew me away,
Im now working on sanding the door jams and little bits and peices of the body like that and the engine bay, my goal is to have most of the body back to bare metal by the end of this week, so i can start working on panels using our newly made Bakcyard builders panel rack made out of a bed frame, some chain and rubber strips
Il update tomorrow or the next day when more progress is made
Cheers
