If this patch does not improve laptimes, than there is no point of installing it, I don't know if you'll have the option not to install the patch... Another words if you don't have the same patch with others you may not be able to race with them online. Spiko Actually, it is very easy to test. If you go online with the new patch and you will see online activity 3 times less than day before, it means patch versions are incompatible. But taking into account that it is 1.01 patch, not even 1.1, and it fixes just a couple of minor bugs, highly probable that we will be able to race online together no matter what version of the patch we have. Another point, online racing now is not so hot yet, so it will be very handy to have faster game version to finish career and set all lap times first, and then move on to the slower gameplay and the new patch. I hope, soon we will get some test results from our ISRC Members who already installed it, that will shed some ligh on the subject.

Looking at the list of what's changed, it seems that every track and every car has had some change made to it, but I don't know what the changes are. I've only tested at Willow Springs, and I didn't notice a significant difference in lap times because of the patch. List of the changed files again: rcgldr.net/nfst/s2upatch.txtI did find that by turning down my graphics settings (medium to low and vsync off), my lap times improved by about 1/2 second (at Willow Springs in the works LP640).

When stating that I did not see any difference with patch installed - it was before I checked the exe. file - still the 1.0.0.0 version - thought that the comments made by Rogerio and myself underline that fact. People with the digital download version seem to have problems with this patch - perhaps it is only for those with retail versions - that is not clear yet as I understand things. I will bet that a 2nd patch will be launched for those with download versions - otherwise they will be left without until a update is out.

Maybe the problem has to do with the language version of the exe... Maybe the patch only updates the US versions of Shift... I wouldnt be surprised... Anyway, getting an updated exe will solve the problem.

Maybe the problem has to do with the language version of the exe... Maybe the patch only updates the US versions of Shift I'm in the US, so I should have the US version, although it's the pre-order limited edition downloaded thorugh EADM. My .exe file was not changed. It's possible that the only change made to the .exe was to update the patch number and all the real changes were done in the 334 files that the patch does change.

Rcgldr, right, I also do not think that there is alot of new info that can be stored in the .exe file, especially when this patch already replaces multiple crucial files with new ones.
But back to my previous topic, it looks like v1.00 and v1.01 are mutially compatible, if ommiting of .exe file patches the game without changing the gameversion.

How is it going, guys?
For people who still have problems with the exe file:
You can uninstall your game. Download uncracked retail version of the game from any torrent. Punch in your license key, install the patch over, enjoy the game.
I know, it is not for everyone, cause it is not 100% legal, but I am not sure that EA will have a patch ready in the next days, unless someone from this forum will share his/her retail .exe file.
P.S.> I still have unpatched game, anyway busy working till next Wednesdey.

I have the digital download version. I downloaded the update and installed it. I am now noticing a marked improvement in stability. Not sure if that was all I changed, but it's gone from hopeless to workable for me.
Edit: And now it's just started crashing to desktop a lot, although it wasn't doing that last night.

I know, Guys, you have just installed the first version of the patch, and many of you are thinking about patching the patch As many expected, negative gamers feedback has changed some of EA decisions, and this express release of 1.01 patch for PC players was one of them. What will be next? Yesterday, April 30, one of the Developers from Slightly Mad Studio made an official statement that they and EA are working on releasing a 1.01 version of the patch that will be compatible with the direct download version of the Shift2 game. Deadline - end of this week (7th of May). Also he wrote that second part of the patch is almost done and will include: a) minor fixes of the first patch (mostly visual, graphics, and game stability issues); b) multi-player collision improvements; c) additional anti-alasing options and performance optimisations; d) PC DLC support (publisher driven release decision ) No word about SLI; I guess, it was already fixed in the first patch. Very good news, Legends pack is coming on the PC !!!!!

Hi all!
I have downloaded the Retail version. I install it with my original key and all went well, even EA Download Manager recognizes the game as being installed and working. Then, I launch it once to create the savegame. Then I exited and replaced the created savegame with my backup one. I re-entered the game and everything seems to be working 100%. Career, Cars & Configs were all kept.
Later when I get home I will drive a little to see how the Wheel is working and fps I can get. Then I will patch the game and assuming all is done correctly, will re-test. Feedback tomorrow probably.
Cya!

Thx for your feedback, Rogerio.
We will be waiting for your post.
I still hope that EA will release an updated patch for us today or tomorrow;
and it will be of help to know how good the changes are.
