In Dutch news is stated that the PS3 and Xbox360 servers will go down on april 13th..

This is weird because they were already reported to go down a year ago and only the console version should follow now. If activity is low, then how much work can it be to keep the servers running? What about Most Wanted and Carbon which are older still? Most Wanted was already shut down in August last year. Only Carbon is still working online. How is it that Gamespy is able to keep the server for the much older Hot Pursuit 2 still running, but EA has to shut down it's servers for the older games? Surely they don't have to shut them down for money reasons. They just don't care to keep them up. It's really sad but EA just doesn't give a fu ck about their older games once a newer part is released in the same series, even if some people still love the old ones.  Thanksfully ProStreet has a lan mode (like Most Wanted does), so there are still ways to play it online if you really want to. Most Wanted is still played quite a bit these days by people using virtual lan tools like GameRanger, Tunngle and Hamachi. What bothers me much more is Carbon because there will be no way at all to play that one without the official EA servers, so I will be really sad when they decide to put these ones down.  I only played it very recently and it's still a great game and a lot of fun to play online with other people of your skill level. I hope I can still create some videos of awesome online races before EA kills the game. |
