Another quote from the news blog...Version 5 is coming!2010-11-11|NFSDrewNext week is going to be a big week because we're launching version 5 of Need for Speed World! On Tuesday, November 16th we'll be bringing down the NFS World servers for several hours to deploy Version 5. Among the many changes in this new version is the new Performance Customization system. It's finally time to get this cool new feature in your hands and we can't wait to see how the community will tune their cars with the new system. Keep your eye on the Need for Speed World site for more information on Performance Customization and the other changes coming in Version 5. Jussi

Wondering how much of this will end up causing problems when converting from the current system and how many bugs there will be. Eventually it will get straightened out, but wondering how long it will take. I'm also wondering if the overall performance will be better or worse than the current upgrades.

I think the upgrade backs were built with the individual parts we get now, but just sold as a bundle. If that is the case, there should not be to much problems. Can't be sure though. I guess we'll find out soon enough. Jussi

I guess we'll find out soon enough. Based on the fact that the NFS skill was broke since introduced Apri 30th, never included in the bug list in all the later Beta releases (finally fixed in full release though), and the fact that some of the current upgrades, such as the Challenger street upgrade do nothing at all, I expect some bugs.

So, the steet pack I put on my Challenger R/T does nothing!!! No wonder I can't really beat any of my times with that car. It's great fun to drive, but it should at least accelerate like a muscle car. Jussi PS. At least it doesn't look to bad.

So, the steet pack I put on my Challenger R/T does nothing! Correct. In spite of the performnace bars indicating a large increase in top speed, it remains at 138 mph. Hard to believe, but the Challenger handles worse than the Charger (less grip), and it acts as if it's heavier in pursuits, although it's low grip factor and poor handling make it terrible for pursuits. I sold it and got a Dodge Super Bee instead on my free to play account. The performance bars are yet another issue. They're just made up values and have nothing to do with actual in game performance. Players would be better off if there were no performance bars instead of the current ones which are essentially lies. Similar to the need for speed skill which took 3 months to fix, I'm expecting the new performance system to be plagued with bugs. Also there's no word yet on how a players currently installed peformance upgrade packages will be dealt with, but it will probably follow the NFS World tradition of making player unfriendly changes, like reducing the number of free slots from over 10 to just 3. Perhaps they'll just uninstall the upgrades without compensating the players with in game cash. I hope for once I'm wrong about this.

I'm still hoping to have my packages transformed into parts once the change comes. But I guess we have to wait until Tuesday to be sure... ...and then a quote from the news blog...Performance Customization - An Overview2010-11-12|NFSDrewPerformance Customization is coming to Need for Speed World and it's coming soon! On November 16th we're releasing a huge new update to the game; something we're calling Version 5. As part of this update we're unveiling an all new tuning system. This new system is going to change the way you customize your rides and how you play your game we thought we should spend a lot of time explaining the changes and what it means to your game. The new system allows you to tune any of your owned cars to reach greater levels of performance. World started the tuning process with a very simple three-stage performance bundle but in the new system gamers can add individual performance parts to one of six different categories: - Engine - Forced Induction - Transmission - Suspension - Brakes - Tires Adding performance parts will affect your car by increasing or decreasing Top Speed, Acceleration and Handling. Generally top speed and acceleration will be affected by parts in the engine, forced induction and transmission categories. Handling will be affected by parts in the suspension, brakes and tires categories. Unless you're in a race or a pursuit you can tune your cars any time. To access performance customization: - Go to the "Safehouse' - Choose "Customization' - Enter the "Performance Shop" The Performance Shop has a few sections: Parts Panel- The parts panel on the left shows what parts are currently installed on the car. Preview Bar- The preview bar on the bottom shows the changes in performance when parts are being installed or removed Store/Inventory:- The Store usually sells basic performance parts which you can purchase and install onto your car to give a small boost to performance. - Your Inventory holds all the parts you have received through Lucky Draw rewards or otherwise. This can be accessed by clicking on the button toggle next to the Store label. On Monday, November 15th we'll go in detail about the Performance Parts so keep your eye on the Need for Speed World website. Jussi

More details...Performance Customization - Parts: What are they?2010-11-15|NFSDrewTomorrow, November 16th, the new Performance Customization system is coming in Version 5 of Need for Speed World! So far we're already given An Overview of the new Performance Customization system so today we're going to go into detail about Performance Parts. Before you start tuning your car it's important to understand the rating system we use for all cars. Car performance is measured by the following ratings: Overall, Top Speed, Acceleration and Handling. When thinking about the performance parts you should think of them as actual parts for a car. Engine, Forced Induction and transmission parts will mainly affect the cars top speed and acceleration. Suspension, tires and brakes will affect the cars handling the most. Parts are unique in their characteristics based on what manufacturer (brand) they are, their performance stage (Street, Race or Pro) and the parts rarity. Each performance part is made by a specific manufacturer and these manufacturers apply different levels of performance bias. Some manufacturers, 'Omnia Racegruppe' for example, will give you a better increase in top speed than acceleration. The parts will also have a greater affect on the car based on what stage they are. Street packages are the introductory stage and will only slightly increase the cars performance. Race parts are the next stage up and will have a greater affect on the car whereas Pro parts are the best and will have the greatest affect on the car's performance. Parts are tagged with a rarity within each performance stage, which is shown by a color. Stronger colors usually imply higher performance levels. You will have to find out for yourself what the best parts are! Tomorrow we're going to bringing the NFS World servers down for several hours to deploy Version 5. When the servers come back online, you'll have the new Performance Customization system so be ready to start tuning! When we post the Patch Notes for Version 5 (tomorrow as well) we'll also include information about what's going to happen to cars whose performance you've already customized. Be sure to keep checking the Need for Speed World site.

All right... I like the fact they made the cars go faster, at least my Silvia is damn fast compared to before. It´s handling is about the same, but it now has more torque and better suspension. It feels more of a car and not a toy car like before. What I do not like is the fact that my car seems to get a visual bug sometimes and also a repair bug. If it gets the visual bug and I try to repair it, it´s impossible - have to close down the game and reopen. But I guess they will come up with a patch for things people will discover in the next few days. Poul

Now I know why the Challenger R/T was so slow! The nfs-s.com/nfsw/JSSKPPNN page used to say it has performance of 400/1000, but when I check it with this new version... ...the over all rating of it is only 251. Jussi

The new changes will be awful for new players. The better performance parts are virtually non-existant parts you're supposed to get from lucky draw cards after a race or pursuit, but so far no one I've chatted with have received a single performance part from a lucky draw card.

I'm still downloading the update now, but reading all the bugs at EA forums, it seems like some bugs from Beta's and Headstart had been revived to this new version. Its like they updated the Headstart Build to patch 5, not 4.17.

They've put the detailed customization quide up! Link: world.needforspeed.com/guide/customizationBy the way, my upgrade stopped at 71 MB, but I just clicked CANCEL and UPDATE (same button) and then it worked fine. Can't wait to see the changes. Hope I have some time to check 'em out tonight. Jussi
