I just bought rFactor. I really like the physics and feel of driving in that game. I'm a total newbie to it.
It's kind'a obvious that the game wasnt made by some big company like EA with it's own super advanced structure with marketing strategists looking into everything. It kind of looks like an old atari game in the menus.
Well inside the game on track driving the cars it's very nice though.
Do anyone know anything about this game?
I seem only to have one single car. I couldnt connect properly to any online server cause they didnt "recognize my car".
How do I unlock/change cars? Whats the objectives in the game to advance?
I really don't get it. It isn't much there in the menus either.
Any help and tips on everything from basic stuff to controller setup for the game is appreciated.

There used to be an unlocking sequence for the default cars, but you can use the cheat code: In the main menu, pick any of the two race car classes and once you do that, go to Control and start a testing run. Doesn't matter what track you select. In the menu where you actually debrief everything, you'll see a chatbox on the lower left of the menu. In that box, type ISI_BABYFACTORY (All caps) and send it, then exit the race. Once you do, you'll see that you're left with way more money (Around 1-2 billion depending on which class you selected) and most, if not all of the cars, unlocked. The original version of rFactor didn't have a lot of cars or tracks, as the idea of this game was to rely on free add-on tracks and cars created by community fans. Since it was based on the same ISI engine used in EA F1 Challenge 1999-2002 game, a lot of already existing add-ons for F1C just needed to be converted. rFactor gave out the information required to create new mods or to convert existing ones. The current version of rFactor includes some real tracks and cars now. The main source for rFactor add-ons is: www.rfactorcentral.comJust about anything you find listed as a "hall of fame" will be pretty good. These are also rated. If you go online, you'll find you need to download a car set and a track set, depending on the server. Thanks for the info Jeff. Is there some way to sort out the hall of fame tracks and cars easier? Theres pretty much to download. Hard to have time for two games. Gotta love the handling of the cars and FFB is also great, I wish they could combine the graphics from shift and feeling of driving from that game. Perhaps you could recommend a couple of cars and tracks that you think are good? I noticed insidesimracing.tv have a car list: www.insidesimracing.tv/topsimcars

Cars - PCC 2007 (modified Porsches). Epsilon Euskadi (prototype Lemans type cars, my favorite looking cars). 2006 Champ car is listed at #1 in Hall of Fame. I haven't tried it yet. rFactor has it's own Formula 1 car, so the Champ Cars and Formula 1 add-on cars are somewhat redundant.
Tracks - Nordschleife 2007. Lemans 1972-1986. Eastern Creek Laser, just because it was laser scanned (version is 1.01, the 2.00 version is an older non-laser scanned version).

Thanks, Jeff. I'll try those out later. I downloaded this one: www.simraceway.com/mods/car/2007_Sauber_BMW_F1/828/Thats a extremely aggressive car, I tried it out on nordschleife which wasnt the smartest thing =) Think it will be nice for perhaps silverstone or tracks like that. I mixed up your link with simraceway.com. I will probably get back to you with a couple of questions when I've gotten into the game more.

rFactor already has a 2007 Intel Sauber BMW F1 race car. What version of rFactor do you have? It should be 1.255. You can download the upgrade patch from rfactor central.
