Darius is a PITA to beat the first time around. My first time around I should have been using a muscle car since that was the first year Jussi did the crew format. Wound up beating him in the Lancer Evo.
My advice there is to get one of the tier 3 tuners and race Darius with it, not the skyline or 350z though. Use the supra, Lancer, WRX for it.
2nd time around I watched him take himself out while I was in a Ford GT.
3rd time I passed him by the first corner in a Corvette Z06.
4th time I passed him by the 3rd corner in a Viper.

How to tell if there is rubber band AI in Carbon: Beating Darius with a RX-8 The AI adjust to the speed of the players car. I made a video showing this. The cheat codes work in career mode, but not in canyon duels (no nitrous or speed breaker). It's possible to win with a stock 240SX or 350Z, but you'll need to use speedbreaker to win the first 3 events. I made quad view video, showing 4 different canyon runs in 4 different cars, upper left is Audi (via hack), upper right is maxed Lancer, lower left is stock 350z (slowest tier 3 car), lower right is stock 240sx. Although the pace varies, Darius drives relative to the players car and and takes a turn about 3/4 track unusually slow and gets passed at the same spot (but at different times) in all 4 cases: rcgldr.net/nfsc/ncdc.wmvAs i fully tund my brera, mustang, merc, cayman and bought a gt i havent got any races to get money from to upgrade my wrx You can sell the old cars. The game never goes back to lower tier races so you don't need to keep the lower tier cars. If you're going for all reward cards, you have to minimize spending on cars. If you turn off autosave, before a boss race, then don't save again until you win the pink slip to the boss car (reload and repeat boss races until you get pink slip via random marker), you can win career mode using just the starter car and the boss cars without spending any money, using speedbreaker to compensate for the slower cars. I list a few career strategies in this guide: rcgldr.net/nfsc/nfsccr.txt

Note that the game handicaps based on your cars peformance. Street tires and street nitrous on a non-dominant car may be boringly slow, but it's enough to win career mode if you use enough speedbreaker.
The cheat codes work for career mode, and I've included them in my career guide. I assume that Wii version has similar buttons as the other console versions.
Using nitrous will speed up the AI, but using speedbreaker doesn't seem to change AI behavior, so it's better to rely on using speed breaker if you're having problems winning an event.
