Good luck this weekend! I'm curious, where are the wheel lug studs? Are they screw in? He he, shame on you Stig, new brake pads but didn't turn the rotors! "Hehe" those lugs look like they are broke off. It won't be a problem until you need to put the tires on, Then you'll have major issue to deal with.

Lug bolts. Everything is up and running smoothly. As long as we don't get hit by a hurricane it should be a good weekend

That was my first thought actually, but they dont allow lug bolts at the tracks here in Indiana, so i didnt give them another thought.
Good luck and kick some ass!

Are you telling me that Saab has lug bolts on it? I'd hate to fix that tire in the middle of the night on the side of the road.... Lug bolts. Everything is up and running smoothly. As long as we don't get hit by a hurricane it should be a good weekend

Oh, SLMP. On about 100 miles into the trip I get an awesome "bing bong! Coolant level low" Fuck. Pull over and assess the situation. It's not leaking quickly, but definitely leaking. It's ending up.... on the shift linkage? To make a long story short, one of the hoses to the heater core passes over the shift linkage and was sitting on it. We assumed it had rubbed through the hose, but the clamp had been overtightened and killed the hose that way. Simple fix, cut, clamp, ziptie out of the shift linkage. This was at like 8-8:30, after the 4 hour trip over took over 6 hours due to that and various other delays. So Saturday morning it's time to swap wheels around. All is well until the last lug of the last wheel, which won't work. Damaged threads in the hub side. I'm not sure if you've ever tried to find a metric tap around Ogdensburg, NY, but it's not an easy task. 2 hours later we were back in business! Saturday my brother ran this car, I did the whole weekend. He ended up with a 63.xx, I.... didn't. Saturday evening "Hmm, I wonder how those front tires are looking.... oh, cords, awesome." Then Sunday. We rotate the back tires onto the front and run street tires on the back. Interesting look. Everything is going okay except that I still can't find my "groove" and I'm posting shit times, and there's a nasty valvetrain tick. Then, later in the morning the car finds a new game to play. It's called "Staying in gear is for boring shit" and makes an irregular habit of being in 2nd/3rd at the beginning of a corner, and neutral at the end. Then I'm out on course and hear the awesome "bing bong!" and look down to the oil pressure light staring me down. FFFUUUUUUU- that's when I decided to call it for the day and limp it home. 30 miles later without revving above 3k, no more tick and it all is well. Time for different oil. Other tidbits: it rained a lot on Fri/Sat. Everything in my tent got soaked. It was fucking cold/windy. I forgot a sweatshirt (and a raincoat). Out of the 2 flashlights we bought to fix the leak, one worked. Jreck subs is a terrible establishment. Oh, and I almost hit a deer on course. Cliffs: Everything that could've gone wrong did, including my driving to the point where my brother, in his first timed event in a car he'd never driven, was faster than me. Pics. Me driving, brother photographing. Brother driving, me photographing. Full set, not that many pics: www.flickr.com/photos/27234164@N07/sets/72157624896109068/2 finally done tires:

Maybe... but... then I'd have a Chebby... Autox'd yesterday.... with my stock (handling wise) 237k 9000 Aero. Which, imo, outhandled this car. Weird. On most of the course, I'd say they were pretty even. The Yellowstuffs on the 900 gave it a big advantage under braking, but that's about it. Then comes the slalom bit. Where the 900 would just plow and understeer wildly, the 9000 actually came through with a touch of oversteer.... which is nice because it points the car in the right direction. So now I'm kinda stuck. I don't really want to abandon this car (well, unless I decide to sell the 9k for a Miata in the spring... but that's different ) but it just seems pointless to keep throwing $$ at it, to bring it even with a stock big sedan with 100k more miles. Or, what I should ask, is how do I make the front of an ng900 grip more than the back?

A few "cheap" things that might help with understeer, taller skinny tires in rear? Stiffer rear swaybar and/or shocks? Although im sure parts for Saab are pretty expensive.
I agree, seams pointless to invest more into a car your going to get rid of soon, if the new investments wont add more value to the car.
Mazda should great for the tracks you run, how expensive is it to upgrade parts for it?

It seems to me that Spyker/Saab is going to close a deal with BMW for the use of parts and technology .. At least that's what our newspaper said yesterday. Bandit

Yeah, BMW will be supplying some engines. There will also be a small Saab built on the Mini platform. Also, I bought another Saab
