So I'm thinking about picking up a gaming console for my new entertainment set-up. I'm not really familiar with which one's the best and I don't like doing research. So I'm taking a vote. Which one do I want?

A PS3 is the best choice of you want it for your entertainment set up, I have mine hooked into my parents plasma and surround sound and its great. Ill list some good things -You can save an arsenal of music onto the console and in some games listen to that music while playing -You can save movies to the console -It gives you blu ray for you entertainment set up -Wi fi incase you want to test your skills online, although i admit XBOX360 has a better online community as PS3's is still growing -wireless remote that does not require an @$$ load of batteries per week just to use -Better graphics cards, and internal gear (I think its like 2 chips to Xbox's every 1, and the ps3 has a backup chip incase one fails i think) -looks a tad better than others -and the interface on the console is awesome, its as if you are using a custom programed computer, This video is really informative and goes through all the hardware of the PS3 and the Xbox 360 and compares them aswell as comparing looks and gaming ect. But to a conclusion the question you asked was which one do you want? So its your choice, just throught id throw some useful info up. Cheers

There's a $299 PS3 now. I know but the Xbox 360 Elite is now just £199 over here.

I reckon the PS3 is best value, Yes it cost a bit of Ca$h but for that extra cash you get double the graphics, double the gaming power and better features like blu ray ect like i mentioned before. If you watch the youtube vid it shows you all of this I can't say anything good about the Wii's though, i dont like em but it's a personal preferance thing, depends on what you want your console to do. Cheers

Nova Scotia. Yep. I have been leaning towards the PS3's mainly for their versatility. Do they up-convert DVDs as well?

I'll put it quite simply. Trey for life. The PS3 is a bit more up to date compared to the XBox 360, and I personally think the eye-candy is a bit better as well. Not only that, but also the overall experience seems to be a more solid one as well. I'd personally go with the PS3.
