Hi guys!
As some of you know, I had already a Shift Competition this weekend, where I couldnt use Wheel, so I went with Keyboard.
The track used for the Main Competition was Road America and the Car was the Loaner LP640, which means, it was the Stock version of the LP640.
As you might imagine, I drove alot during these couple days in that track... I believe I drove about 5h of efective Racing time, which means a around 140 Laps.
My conclusion on Driving Aids was that the best setting, although dangerous, but since it was the only way to battle the Gamepads had to be done, was everything Off with only Traction Control on High.
Because I drove quite a bit, I am fairly convinced that my time is close to the limit of what a Keyboard allows.
My question is: can the Gamepads or Wheel Drivers here in the Forum, that have already experience in the Game with these controllers, try that Track using the Stock LP640 and see what can they get? The idea is try to establish the differences in performance among controllers.
My best time was 2m 07.680s.
Cya and thanks!
Rogério

Hello Everyone
I am glad that someone wanted to test this theory, keyboard verses gamepad /wheel
I use a Logitech G25 steering wheel. I used the same car LP640 except I bought my car and it was already fully loaded. So I wanted to try LP640 loaded before down grading to stock.
I raced 40 almost perfect laps and my best time was 2.13.365 with the car fully upgraded.

Vgspeedpro: You are not near close to the limit of keyboard. I play shift with keyboard, I got 2:00 on Road America with Zonda R. I played about 10 laps, nothing more. I can't be very competitive in shift with keyboard, it's very obvious, because shift is simulation. On arcades keyboard is not so near bad. Some nfs games I play with gamepad. I also tried Donington and I got 1:29 I am sure I can with wheel do much better on shift.

I can't be very competitive in shift with keyboard... Do you use any special settings with your keyboard and do you have any good setups for the cars, you could share? Jussi

Maybe I will one of the coming days... With Zonda R using Default Setup I already did 1m 51.290s with Wheel. Cya and thanks for the feedback! Rogério

I don't remember was setup default or not, I still didn't test the setup on right way, I didn't have time. I also did 2:15 on Spa. I did 1:20 on Donington, i saw that jeffa also did 1:29, but he played with wheel, so my 1:29 means it's crazy fast for keyboard. I also need to mention that this run is from starting position, my wasn't from starting. So about 2 seconds difference makes starting postion, my experience tells me that. www.youtube.com/watch?v=vC72qIiP57U&feature=channel_page I think I will be more competitive on nfs nitro, I already proved I am great on arcades, remember oldies. Here I don't have g25 so I won't be shift champion. I play also nfs games with my gamepad, this gamepad is better than keyboard on many nfs games, but not on shift, I don't know why. I think most of members here won't play nitro, because they don't have nintendo wii.

i saw that jeffa also did 1:29, but he played with wheel Actually Jeff has something far more advanced than a wheel, he has 2 joysticks (unless he switched). Jussi

with keyboard you are much slower than with wheel. there is no chance. i think that i am a good keyboard player. you can take a look at my lap times at wrecord.

hi,
i do not use the steering assist but i could test it today night.
the only assists i use are the traction control on low and the automatic gearing. i have to add that most of the time i only drive the zonda r on default setup.
i will make a comparison beetween my settings and my settings + steering assist low.

Ok... Let me know how it went! Also you must start using Manual Transmission... In most cars is a lot faster, I think, especially in the Zonda R! Rogério

so i have to insure my fingers before start using manual trans first impression is that i am faster with steering assist. but the disadvantage is that i have more crashes because i drive with much risk.

Maybe with some practise your consistency will improve! A good first step is the manual gearbox, which will gave you a lot more control in braking! Rogério

Rogerio. G25 & G27 perfect for NFS Shift. Pad and Keyboard has no chance for race this game. Analogic Pad Maybe Good...But only for "SpeedNG" players extreme b0t in gamepad. Im racing now with DFP (Driving Force Pro) because I sold mine G25 wheel to Gear in 2008 for him race WCG Germany... But I think the G25 have only the "fast shift bug" better than DFP, and some players are using that to change time on the track... If WCG 2010 return to NFSS, i know the "Fast Shift G25/G27 bug not will be allowed". So I will run without this bug . Is better, because the line at track without "FS Bug" is totaly different and brake points too. Start with 3/4 gear too is bug in mine concept...I saw some players using that...but its allowed in wcg...because some players used that in WCG 2008 with Pro Street Version and the judges did not reacted. I discover other bugs too. But I will not comment on them because not is the objective explain that for players make it online or LAN. It is not fair. We will race online at this year rogerio? Or you are racing only at Hamachi/Lan for not loose the lan gameplay? Cya Later Bro. Danilo (Godsmack) Barros

When I used keyboard I used a totally different setup.
If you really want to use manual gearbox and perhaps manual clutch you could use this. Works like a charm:
G is clutch H is downshift J is upshift AltGr is nos Space is handbrake and you use the arrows for steering
This has worked great for me in Pro Street and Undercover and I was quite good at it.
