PROLOGUE:One of the gamers, I forgot his name, recently wrote -
“NFS is degenerating itself .... first it was about speed ... then turned in a racing simulator(a bad one ) .... and now the models ...... what next!!”I can not read his comments without laugh.
Honestly, if EA continued to publish a carbon-copy of the very first NFS over and over again
but with the new graphics,
the NFS Series would not survive for 17 years as it did, and it would be the most boring game ever.
Thank you, EA, for experimenting and bringing innovations with every single NFS title.
NFS is not only
the most successful racing video game series in the world(with over 70 Mio copies sold worldwide
www.vgchartz.com/worldtotals.php?name=Need+for+Speed&publisher=105&console=&genre=&minSales=0&results=100&sort=Total),
now, it is also a
well-known world-class brand like Apple or Coke.
Good job, EA, keep it up!
MY MAIN POST:Hey Guys,
while most of you are still waiting for the next July trailer from EA,
I have my next full post ready.
1) To kick it off,
I will talk a bit about the
blue car.
Many of you tried to solve the puzzle,
and some of you got pretty close to the answer.
Here, I have 2 screens that should clarify the matter:
Also, look at the front bumper of the car,
it is a bit blurry, but you will be able to see the resemblance.
So, my answer is –
the Blue Rocket challenging Nismo GTR is
Chevy Camaro ZL1.
2) Now, let's continue our talk about NFS Run
Car&World Damage Model.
It is not a secret that E3 Demo was locked to an easy mode,
to allow visitors to finish it without problems.
Drawback of that was -
low settings of in-game damage.
Players were crashing multiple times, helicopter was firing tonns of bullets,
but car had only 3-4 visible scratches after that derby.
However, in the real game, damage will be much more extensive,
unless you are planning to play it using the same “beginner” settings
.
I am happy to present you with the series of screens of in-game damage that you did not see before,
so you can get a glimps at the abilities of the Frostbite 2.0 engine and the NFS Run game.
Let me start with the
frontal crash capture.
It all happened just in the mere 1/2 sec:
- Shelby Hood camera option; clearly seen SRT logo on DodgeCharger's grill
- Enormous amount of hood deformation
- Familiar, from previous NFS games, black/white color and blur effects of the post-crash;
also please have a look at the Dodge with the broken left headlight as a result of the crash
It looks pretty awesome to me.
But what will happen if we will
run into the concrete wall at 60mph?
Here are the screens:
- GPS malfunctioning?
- Star Trek teleport?
-Someone asked about car jumps in the game, here we go
Honestly, it was not realistic enough, but it was fun.
Enough with frontal crashes, let's
scratch something:
- Excellent light and depth of field effects
- Some real world damage on the left side
- Explosion, and you can see the car being not really intact after all that mess
To end our Series,
an
epic screenshot of the Chicago Chase
(this time, police vehicle is not a chaser but is chased
):
It is my favourite screen from the game.
It shows car damage, explosion, world destruction, particle effects, fog, fire, depth-of-field,
just everything Frostbite 2.0 has to offer in 2011!
That is it for the Car/World damage analysis today.
Let's move to the next topic.
3) It is not much spoken about but very important issue of the
in-game Steering Wheel support.
Over a couple of years, most of the car-game fans purchased G25,G27,... or even Fanatec Wheels
that brought racing enjoyment to the next level.
Arcade HP2010 was kinda disappointment for them,
because driving (or more precise “sliding”) with the Pad or even Keyboard was easier and more efficient than with the Wheel.
In the RacingSim GranTurismo5, on the contrary, fast driving was only possible with the Wheel.
Shift1&2 were in the middle of the pack,
where both Pad and Wheel drivers enjoyed the game to the same extent without clear advantage of one or another controller used.
Where will the Run stand?
EA and Blackbox promised us driving experience somewhere in the middle, between HP2010 and Shift2.
Read, something close to the ProStreet but without numerous bugs.
Our
questions about the Wheel Support:
1. Is there any wheel support planned in the NFS the Run game?
2. Will it be a “drivers tool” or just “redundant gimmick”?
I do not know the answer to the second question, but
Justin Wiebe, NFS Run Game Director, answered the first one:
“BlackBox is planning to support a wide variety of the Wheels in this game.
I do not have the specific wheel details of hand,
but we will be supporting all the major manufacturers' wheels.”4) I got hungry, so let's talk about NFS Girls.
As promised, next NFS Model
from Long Beach, California -
Randyl Dawn. She is 24 years old,
she does not drink alcohol at all,
she never had a speeding ticket,
and she has perfect body measurements: 34 – 26 – 34
Usually, I use professional pictures from the industry to introduce the Girls,
but Randyl's NFS Girl photo was so gorgeous,
that I could not resist to put it upfront:
Now, her professional photo:
Randyl Policewoman:
Randyl at the NFS Run stand:
There are almost no videos of Randyl, apart from a few NFS commercials,
so I will show you one from the Falken Tire,
because she is also a Falken Tire Spokesmodel for multiple years:
(do not forget to watch it in 1080p resolution fullscreen)
And as it was stated in the ImportTuner Mag:
"Besides picking the incredibly stunning,
Falken selects girls with an actual interest in cars and, gasp, personality.
Think your girlfriend, but hotter,
and won't bitch when you talk about cars...so in theory, absolutely nothing like your girlfriend."Sounds like a dream-wife to me
.

P.S.> I completely forgot about the carlist in the game.
Last time we had a quizz about:
"
How many cars will be in the NFS Run?"
The right
answer is: 50 +And it is not including cars planned for the DLCs.
Wicken gave us very very close answer tho the question,
therefore I will award you with the
“Big 50 Award”:
For some who need a proof,
here is one of the videos from E3,
just watch from 4:40 min:
P.S.S.> In my next post
I will continue our discussion about Cars&World damage,
expect some new info about cameras in the game, new cars,
and one more NFS Girl.
