I have observed, that almost everyone in the PC community is angry about EA not releasing Shift2 Patch for PC. But do we really want to install it??? Now, after most of Xbox and PS3 players downloaded it, they posted some interesting feedback: "Paulpg87 wrote: i downloade the patch and now all the le content, both cars and events are gone. what i've to do? ( psn is down) i'll be able to dowload again it with the code? Soules Reaper wrote: When the PSN is back up u can check your dl history under account managment. It may be there for u to redownload, if not ur outof luck. Soules Reaper wrote: great i think i'm * up.. fantastic patch EA i lost the limitet content and the ffb of the wheel. Really thank you. " So, guys, who wants to lose their L640? P.S.> So far as I know, EA is planning to release a patch for PC, but it will combine 2 patches that are to be released for consoles first (1.01 and the next one that will be ready to download after Testing stage is done).

The playstation servers / network were attacked and shut down. Players currently can't access the network. However, I don't understand why an update would revert a save back to non limited edition.
This shouldn't be an issue for PC or XBOX.

I installed the patch, but I can really not tell any difference in handling at all. However I do think my fps went up a little, but that could just be my imagination of course. I think this patch is only for those who had trouble with floating cars before - that I only saw sometimes with various cars that had bad default tuning. My cars are handling fine - ones you make a custom track specific tuning.... Poul

Poul,
what about laptimes, does it give any improvements due to changed handling?
Has it fixed your SLI problem?
What about drift, some say it is changed a bit?

My lap times are as slow as before and the handling has not changed one bit for me. The SLI is still not working (did read that some guy stated it did - but he is wrong. I never drifted in Shift 2 - not yet anyway. The small increase in fps is like 3-5 fps - but it could just be that I overclocked a bit higher this morning before I started the game. It is very easy to check whether SLI is functioning - in Nvidia control panel - there is under 3D Settings, an option to show SLI Visual Indicator and Physx Visual indicator. When you race and SLI was enabled, it would say so on the top left screen in bold coloured letters - only shows that Physx is done by the CPU. I can honestly not see any differences in anything - but maybe it is for those who had problems before. Poul

Seems that those who have Digital Download Copy may not have the complete patch applied, more exactly, the exe is not updated.

Before changing to the new PC I tried to install the Patch. All files were updated except one: the shift2u.exe. The problem is that although, even with the old exe already feel some differences, things only trully come together when the exe is updated also... There seems to be a problem with the installer that sometimes updates that file, others it doesnt... According to nogrip foruns, the solution is simple: to get a v1.0.1 exe from someone where things went accordantly... :S
So, after install the patch make sure your exe file was also updated...

I can confirm what Rogerio says here; the digital download version does not get updated with this patch as it´s supposed too. My version after installing the patch is still 1.0 and it´s supposed to be 1.01 - typically for EA to release a patch for everyone without stating that it actually does not work for everybody - only for those who bought a retail version.
But I think we can get around that, but now I need some sleep, because I have to be at work at 04.00 AM, and it´s all ready 12.03 AM here - arhhhhhh - not much sleep needed anyway.

Its not a problem only of the Digital Copies... And it seems the problem is with the package of the Patch, since the Patch itself works perfectly! ;P

List of files changed by the patch, link below. The exe was not changed. Default setups may have been changed and I'm not sure if this means you have to reset all of your cars in your savegame to pick up those changes. rcgldr.net/nfst/s2upatch.txt

If this patch does not improve laptimes, than there is no point of installing it,
my game works fine without it, cars handle allright after deep tuning.
Not sure that everyone will be really happy to retune each car again and re-run all events just to adjust to the new handling.
Could someone make a test, please, on the familiar tracks whether this patch gives an edge or disadvantage for competitive racing.
I am sure, community will really appreciate it.

If this patch does not improve laptimes, than there is no point of installing it, I don't know if you'll have the option not to install the patch if it's the same way all other nfs titles were (that's what I recall was the case). Another words if you don't have the same patch with others you may not be able to race with them online. I don't know if that's the case here since I don't have the game, I'm just saying. Spiko
