Going through career mode, your driver level gets well ahead of the current event you're working. Shift 1 was similar, if you did all events, tier 5 would get unlocked while you were still working on tier 2.
Although the works event doesn't occur until after the GT3 events, you can do works conversion on cars much earlier, and use them in any A class events. I don't know if this is a bug in career mode or just an option. With the modern A event, you can run the works Apollo.
Another issue is that even with difficulty set to easy, the AI can be difficult if you're using a very fast car on tight tracks like Miami. Almost all of the handicapping seems to be related to braking, while the cornering and acceleration seem to match your cars or sometimes is a bit faster if they are ahead. The handicapping also varies from track to track, with some being fairly easy, and others being difficult, which I attribute some track based parameter as well as car parameters used to calculate expected speed on the track.
The AI are also like tanks, you can't move them, but they can easily move your car around.
I haven't got there yet, but the endurance group is 5 races at 20 laps each, then 5 laps at nordschleife in day, another 5 at night.
Another annoyance is clean lap goal on the nordschliefe spirnt tracks and 1 lap runs at the full Nordschliefe. Mabye using the slowest possible car (I think it has to be A class, not sure) would help. Fortunately, these sub-goals aren't part of the badge system, just give a bit more XP, and you'll probably max out XP without the mini-goals, long before you get to the GT3 events.

I am at 80% complete and , I have already race and completed the works event and I still can't do the works upgrades yet.. I am not going to do the endurance or the drift, I use to complain about the long tracks on Shift 1 which was only 6 laps..compared to 20 laps Going through career mode, your driver level gets well ahead of the current event you're working. 80% complete and you can not Works convert your car? I was less than 20% in career, when I bought an Apollo and did a Works upgrade. Poul

Hi Monster!
Did you make sure to buy enough parts on the cars for the works to unlock?

I'll try again, but I wasn't able to do a works upgrade on the Shelby Cobra, even though it showed 100% works complete.

Eventhough I'm not that very far in my career (27%) but somehow my career mode is broken. The game crashed on me one time and when I restarted the game, the career was locked. I had to do the first bit all over again, and when I looked at my career it still showed 27%, but every race is locked telling me I need level 2,3,4, etc to unlock these events. So I tried a few races I could do to level up, but no luck, still everything is locked. Guess I need to delete my savegame/profile on my harddisk and start all over again.

1st part of endurance series was tough with the works Apollo. I lapped the field at Road America, and some cars at Brno, did ok at Suzuka, but Bathurst was very close. The AI handicapping mostly occurs under braking and if there are only a few hard braking zones, they're pretty fast. Bathurst was probably tough because the AI cornering speeds don't seem to be affected by the crests and one bumpy section at the left right chicane like sequence near the end of the lap.
The other issue is the AI cars are tanks, if they hit you, you usually spin out, get boucned off a wall, or into a sand trap. If you contact an AI car from behind, it often slows down quickly with your car stuck behind or spun, or worse yet you get hit from behind by another AI car.
Spa was night mode which didnt help, as there aren't any clear markers for that last high speed kink, and the racing line goes away after a few laps. Most these took around 38 minutes, while Spa was almost 44 (my best lap was about 2:07.5, and most were just under 2:10).
Nordschliefe is next, 5 laps day, 5 laps night. I may play with gamma setting to see if that helps.

Nordschliefe is next, 5 laps day, 5 laps night. I may play with gamma setting to see if that helps. Gamma setting didn't work in full screen. So for the nite run I switched to windowed mode. I could see a bit better, but then the game play was very sluggish. The AI fall behind, then speed up towards the end, and I won by less than 10 seconds. On my daytime run, an AI car knocked me off the track so my time didn't record. I redid the day run, but I don't plan to redo the night run. I used the works Apollo, but I wouldn't recommend it, at least not for nite mode. The AI seem to go relatively faster if you're driving the works Apollo, and you can't see far enough ahead at high speeds. Seems you can use any car, not just A class for the endurance races, so a slower all wheel drive car might be a better choice, although it wil take a lot longer (if you ignore how many retries it takes with the works Apollo). As mentioned the works Apollo is triggering some fast AI at some events or tracks, even though I have difficulty set to easy.

Career tidbits:
There are 68 race tracks, so 136 master tracks, 212 badges total in standard edition, I think 249 total with limited edition.
Ebisu Touge track is never used in race mode, although the time for the drift event there shows up on the track stats in race mode. A few tracks are never run during the day; I think these include Bathurst, Hockenheim GP, ...

About unlocking cars. I drove a GT500 old style muscle car online yesterday in a manufacture race and liked it. Went into the car lot but couldnt find it.
Is there a list somewhere where I can find out which career events I need to do to unlock different cars?
The filter in the car lot doesnt seem to work for me either. Does it for you guys? I cant seem to filter out any cars except if I choose all categories it shows them all again.. is this a bug or am I missing a whole lot of cars? I'm at about 40% of career and dont think I'll have time to go through it all.

Thomas, in order to see all the cars in the car lot side by side, you need to filter them by performance and scroll between them using "up" and "down" arrow keys. When you filter cars by manufacturer then you need to press "left", "right" buttons to scroll between cars for the same manufacturer.
Historically, Shelby Cars were manufactured by Shelby: Cobra and old GT500. New Shelby500GT is made by Ford. I assume, you need to go to Shelby Manufacturer in the Car lot and use arrow buttons to see it. It is a powerful car in the works version. There is also a couple of unique Mustang/Shelby cars you can win throughout career.
Here is the whole list of award cars:
a) Level awards: Team NFS Mazda Rx-7 Drift - Level 5 NFS Shelby Terlingua - Level 11 Porsche 911 Gt3 Rsr Team Falken - Level 15
b) "Join the Class" Awards: Nissan 240 SX Drift Alliance - Complete the Drift Tutorial Lotus Exige S - Beat the Class C Invitational Chevrolet Corrvette ZO6 - Beat the Class B Invitational McLaren MP4-12 - Beat the Class A Invitational
