Hi my friends! As you know you can swap engines on some cars... What you probably may not know is that the rating of car chages depending on the engine you have when you install the Works Upgrade. The problem is that, at least with RWD cars, if you have the bigger engine when you upgrade to works the car becomes undrivable! I just found about this too late on my Z06, and now, even with TC on High the car is close to impossible to control, and I have some doubts the setup can solve this problem... Since the car cant be bought and the works cant be removed, thats it I suppose! The BMW M3 Sport Evolution is another one... With the engine swap + works you get over 1400 hp, but you cant drive it! LOL The R8 is another car I have where I did an engine swap... Since its AWD I think that maybe this one is a good choice... Anyway, it seems the engine swaps may have been done with Drift in mind, so be careful if you do it to reward cars... Cya my friends! Rogério

Well, i swapped the V8 in my Audi S4 for a V10 from the R8 and now it understeers even more! I don't think 4WD is win in this game and the stopping power is a big issue as well for me, at least with the S4.. And i can somewhat imagine that 1400BHP in a car that weighs close to a ton might get 'a handfull' ... But thanks for the tip - i might just try that Bandit

Well that explains my problem then that Z06 is like driving a jet engine dragster,, I can lauch in 3 gear and take the lead from 6th place. but i am not able to control it even if I back off the throttle and try to go slow in order to take the first turn... I don't see a Z06 in my car lot, other than the Z06 GT3 car (in my offline only career mode save). Is this a normal Z06 or of those bonus cars you win during career mode? Already I have a Mazda A rated drift car that I apparently won when I unlocked some drift series. Wondering how may other cars are won during career mode.
I did an engine swap on the Audi R8, once for C class (rating 999), and before on a works converted car (the rating was a bit over 2100), and both of those drove fine.

Rogério, do you remember how you got the Z06? I'm guessing maybe the Modern A-part of the career? I'm a bit eager to try this car myself, and I will take your tip and not switch out the engine.

Hello fellow racers, this is quite interesting topic for discussion .... I think the game gave me the Z06 after lvl 8 or so. For long time I've used Golf GTI, but after I've been awarded with the Z06, I've decided use her - with works conversion. While I was in upgrade section, I was quite impressed. After engine swap works conversion had 1213 HP and 1346 Nm ... huh! That's amazing, lets take it on the track ... I practised for 3 hours at Aremberg and 1 hour at Willow Springs GP to understand this Vette's handling. Now I'm using her in Works car events. This car is so much fun to drive, and finally it is one of the fastest cars. From another works converted cars seems to be awesome R8, but it need to be tuned, with stock setup understeer like mad. 1st lap at Willow Springs GP under 1.10 should be no problem. This car is seriously fast. Gumpert Apollo works is at this time the fastest one, this car almost don't need breakes, so much grip ha have. Rogério mentioned drift events, brutes like works Z06 aren't good for drifting, personally I'm using the game's gift - Nissan 240SX. I think the weaker japan cars are the best option here. I'll be continue in discovering the game and her awards, if I'll find something, I will let you know I'm planing make a video with Z06 from Green Hell, I can give here a link, if anyone will be interested. Hello Rogério ! Yes, I'm using the fully tuned Z06 - this car is predator, but drive very similiar to Z06 works as in Shift 1. I did some setup changes + set lower throttle and brakes response (to 50% both), but on contrary I'm using full differential lock (24.00). I wanted make today a Nordsch. video, but after few attempts my Fraps started "cuting", so I wasn't able to record a good lap here. I'll continue trying Paul

I always thought the works Z06 in Shift 1 was the most realistic of the cars, because of the throttle sensitivity and throttle induced oversteer, but I also had it setup with low gearing and high downforce. The works Viper was also throttle sensitive, but rarely used. I would just upshift to a taller gear while in turns to make the car easier to drive.
The most difficult car I drove in Shift 1 was the works 200SX, which some forum site used in a hot lap contest. I never drove it again, since it was an otherwise slow and non-competitive car.
Maybe using a joystick to steer without any force feedback is an advantage with some cars in the Shift series. For the joystick steering, I'm using the least exponential setting (it's nearly linear) in my controller software for both Shift games, and in game steering and speed sensitivity are set to 50%. Assuming the wheel profilers don't have exponential, I'm probably at the equivalent of a 35% to 40% in game steering sensitivity setting.

I think about the same, Jeff. Z06 works was in Shift 1 close to the real, she had fast trottle sensitivity, very touchy. I used downforce 12/20 and shorter gear ratios ( I shifted 2nd at 55 mph, 3rd at 75 mph, 4th at 95 mph, 5th 118mph and 6th at 141 mph). This car was very good for curved tracks.
Rogério, I will make for you screens with my in-game steering wheel settings (and I'll post them to the topic for controller settings). About profiler, I never used specific settings for any game, I just used to stock profiler global settings.

It seems I may have the Z06 back... Just have to use TC Low and Stability On! ;S

I avoided the engine swap before I upgraded the Z06 to Works. The car is very drivable, but not anywhere close to as fast as the LP640.
