You cant really drive career events to set records. Yes, you can. I have all my regional records for Canada set after playing career events. I am not so fast to set world records, yet

Thats not true Poul, He cheats all the time online, I caught him in Shift 1 he did a 2.10 lap time at the Spa in a 10.0 rating race. So he uses his Alis names so one knows its him, but i was using my Alis name when I caught him as rcgld, I didn't say anything because he was a member of our crew and I like him for his input. but now he just trash talking the board with his generic trainer, Now I know nothing he has to say applies to me because he using cheats, some of us has morals and some of us don't.. The people who do have moral are good honest and respected people and don't need to cheat to have fun.. but it's people like him that ruins the fun for all of us honest people.. Some of you people doesn´t seem to know Jeff if You suspect him of cheating online. He has been into NFS racing since forever - and all though he uses cheat codes or trainers to unlock things, he would never use a trainer that would improve performance online. It´s just Jeff´s nature to test things - out of curiosity - that´s all. I like Jeff´s input and have always done... keep up the good work Jeff. Poul

Thats not true Poul, He cheats all the time online, I caught him in Shift 1 You lose all respect for him becaues he used a trainer to get money? That's nothing! Take a look at yourself for a moment. You're a moderator here, but keep circumventing the swear filter. You blatantly accuse a well respected member for cheating becuase of one laptime... in a bugged game! "He cheats all the time", that's the kind of nonsense I'd expect from a 12-year-old, and you see plenty of that on the official forums. If you don't like that he used a trainer to get money, then thats fine. Don't like it. Roll your eyes, or whatever. It's an innocent cheat. It doesn't in any way give him any advantage. If he would have spent the time playing through the career instead of sharing his experiences with us, he would have enough money to buy any car he wanted. Give it a rest!

TheGreenMonster, if anybody is a huge dick in this forum then it's obviously you. You already lost all my respect a long time ago, when some new user was asking for some help with a setup in Shift 1 and you basically told him right in his face that you could help if you wanted but that you refuse to do so, just because the guy was not participating in your stupid PBRCs and also because you probably thought that he might be a cheater, which you seem to think about everybody who hasn't proven otherwise, even though your funny section here is called "Innocent until proven guilty".
I think you are a bit paranoid or something. This board has always been very unwelcoming to new people, only being friendly to those who would participate in the PBRCs and hiding stuff like wheel settings in a private section that could help everybody to have more fun with the game. But now accusing a well known and well respected person like Jeff of cheating online is just ridiculous. I am totally with Poul and the others here. Jeff is a great guy and he has done a lot for the community.
Seriously, if you don't like what Jeff is posting then just shut the f**k up. People are letting you post all of your bullshit here as well without telling you to burn in hell or something.

All of this testing is being done using saves that are offline only, no records are getting set. The purpose of this is to share information with other players about car ratings and relative performance, sort of a mini-guide to the game. I did the same thing with a setup guide (and offline test savegame) for Shift 1. While doing my offline only testing, I also figure out if there are any issues, and in this case there's a weave / stability issue that makes it difficult to drive some of the cars on tracks like Nordschleife. I haven't tried any setups to see if the problem can be fixed, but it seems unlikely, since it's a yaw (horizontal flex) problem, which is an issue with flex in the steering or horizontal flex in suspension and/or tires, which can't be tuned out. (Except if it's due to flex in tire sidewalls, the wheels and tires could be replaced to end up with stiffer sidewalls). Anyway, I'm not sure I like the game that much so far. The weave / stability issue is enough of an issue that I don't plan to rush through career mode like I did with Shift 1. I went online only once, and only ran the first 2 career events. That is all that should be on my online stats for rcgldr. I caught (rcgldr) in Shift 1 he did a 2.10 lap time at the Spa in a 10.0 rating race as rcgld I don't have a persona named rcgld. Only rcgldr and xrcgldrx (I created it, but I don't think I ever used it). I don't know about a 2:10 lap time, but with a 10.0 Stingray, using all of the nitrous on one lap, I can run under 2:15, maybe around 2:12, never really paid attention.

I completely agree with Poul, and Paragleiber. and Skroting. Jeff helped us, and thats why I respect him, regardless of how he got these fast experiences. Also, theres nothing wrong with curiosity, if these are not meant to be used as unfair and hidden advantage over everyone other, which is not the case because he reveals his new found stuff openly. To Jeff, I also dont doubt, that theres 2:12 possible with Nos, 2:10 or below should be only realizable with cutting.

I don't recall my actual best time, other than I can usually run under 2:15 if I use all my nitrous on one lap. 2:12 was just a guess. Perhaps I just recall other players being able to run 2:12's.

I've been know to create havoc amounts friends from time to time but its good to have a debate is alwasy enjoyable. Jeff is a good guy and very knowledgeable and is always talking way above my head most of the time. and I can see where his trainer would come into play from time to time, an a good example is to know what the track limits are, Jeff can tell us if a certain times on a tracks normal limit of fair racing. I am apologize to Jeff for jumping the gun and after thinking about it for awhile longer I think his information is good for the crew and he can help us sort out who is cheating and who not. this way we know the lap time limits of any certain track.
so if Jeff wouldn't mind to much on racing that PBRC track and tell us what his time is, I don't want a video just want the time you got for two laps with any class D car?

everything isnt unlocked for me. None of the cars (if you have enough money) or tracks are locked, only career events. I did all of my testing on an offline only save with career at 0% (only did the intro race where you choose gameplay settings). SMS's history includes the sim-oriented GTR series of racing games, which don't have a career mode. You start the game with everything unlocked. The only exception was GTLegends, but SMS provided a "cheat" (you created a file with a specific name) to unlock everything. I've only gone online once, and only ran the first 2 career events. I don't know about Shift 2 or autolog, but when players used my offline only savegame for Shift 1, they reported that my offline times eventually ended up as their online times. This didn't happen initially, but EA later made a change to the servers to pick up offline times while players were logged in. To avoid this potential problem, I do not plan on posting my offline save for Shift 2. I haven't determined if the activation key goes into a savefile or not, which would be another issue. I can see where his trainer would come into play from time to time, an a good example is to know what the track limits are, Jeff can tell us if a certain times on a tracks normal limit of fair racing. It's not my trainer, just a generic trainer, like artmoney, but I've never used that, just "generic game trainer 1.61" or "tsearch". There's also "cheat engine", but I read it's more complicated and never used it. I can also understand players having an issue if I had used the money cheat to post early fast times online, but I didn't do that. All of this testing is offline only. If I go online, I'll use a save that I started from scratch to avoid any issues online. As far as track limits go, I don't know what they are. Shift 1 is system sensitive, meaning that lap times are affected by a players system, mostly slower if fps is much slower than 60, but looking at videos some players get less bounce and/or more grip in Shift 1, getting even better performance than other players that are at 60fps or better. I don't know if Shift 2 has the same issue.
