Very nice time Micrak. No I am not gonna try to do under 4.09. I prefer to watch Appaloosa with Ed Harris and Viggo Mortensen on TV in a few minutes, so good luck. Poul that's okay, today I try anything more thx you for the tough competition Mic

After small setup changes I did under 4.12, which was my goal with my setup. Fastest first lap was 2.08.170 and second 2.02.890. 4.11.990 - Paul - 2010 Ford Mustang GT500 - 10.00 - 2.03.420 Video here : www.youtube.com/watch?v=b46BbceTY0k (that Badaboom converter is just great) Congrats to the awesome times, guys ! Jussi it clearly states in the rules that the changing of the controller files is allowed. That is all I have done is modify the dinput8.dll which controls the FFB for the G25. As for the lack of tire noise it is because the wind roar becomes louder and everything else softer when I record. Believe me the tire noise drives me nuts. But if we have some unhappy members that's cool I will withdraw the entry and from PBRC. B If this dinput8.dll is indeed a controller file then it does not matter who modified it. The rules clearly say that the controller file can be modified, which means you followed the rules and your entry is valid. Jussi

Since when is replacing the same as editing? Wizard clearly stated that he had replaced a file and made tuning suspension obsolete, and I will never agree that we should allow such a thing in our PBRC´s. He has taken the fun out of driving an American muscle car - removed how easy it slides around a corner. I suggest that if he can have www.wrecord.com accept his time on Road America using that file we can allow it. I can see he has an account there and has not yet posted a time on Road America, so feel free to post one using your "edited" file. Poul

Road America never was one of my better tracks. Very interesting races this week at Road America. how ever the race is now closed.
Wizard if you go to wrecord.com and race Road America and test out ur profiler changes and it doesn't allow it, wrecord will black flag you as a cheater, there's only 5 weeks to go till we get Shift 2 is released, my advice to you is play the game and have fun and don't race our PBRC races, we'll see you when SHift 2 here in about 5 weeks....
Final Standings... 4.09.110 - Grnkjr0 - 2010 Shelby GT500 - 10.00 - 2.01.640 4.09.110 - micrak - 2010 Shelby GT500 - 10.00 - 2.01.760 4.11.990 - Paul - 2010 Ford Mustang GT500 - 10.00 - 2.03.420

That was a rather harsh comment Sunny. Wizard has been racing these competitions way back and was and is a valuable member of this community. We need to discuss whether his time was done under our PBRC´s rules. Jussi all ready stated it was a legit time - however I disagree if he used a 3rd party file and replaced his own with that. But if www.wrecord. com will allow it - then it is fine by me. But why not just make the same changes if all you changed was settings in the controllerdefault file Wizard? It is of course not my decision, but Jussi´s - however I think we can take the discussion now, since I guarantee you we will be seeing the same thing with Shift 2. But Wizard you will be happy to know I read that sliding is not as big a problem with Shift 2 as with Shift 1. Poul

If there is a specific file that was supposed to be allowed to alter, then the rules need to state that specific file. Wizard read the rules and followed them (as long as this dinput8.dll is indeed controller file). Now, if the rules were supposed to allow a specific file alteration, then someone has to add it there, before the next deadline. Jussi PS. Someone should try that .dll and see for theirself what it does. My original stand on this issue was completely un-altered game files, but I more experienced players chose differently, probably because there's no way of detecting that controller file alteration.

Sorry it wasn't meant to be harsh just realistic, Poul do you remember that controller patch that you found for the steering wheel assist in NFS HP that dinput8.dll is one of the same files in that patch. I couldn't find your link to verify that, Maybe you remember where that link is at? if so send it to me or you can do it your self to verify it the same file name. the same condition apply just drop that dll file into the game folder and it would fixed the wheel support I searched my game folder for that dll file and it's not there... maybe someone else can search there game folder and look for the dll file.... Yes I remember that file Sunny, but I have never tried it and it is not on my PC anymore. I too have searched for that dinput8.dll file mentioned, and I too can not find it anywhere. Just shows you how ignorant I am when it comes to stuff like that.
Could someone who has actually tried this tell where it is and what it does? If it prevents your car from sliding in Shift, then something is not right and you are getting an advantage over people who have not swapped files. But I will be happy to test whether it actually is such a huge advantage if someone tells me what and how to do it.

Hey guys, Jussi has a point, changing controller files is allowed, however, allowing a 3rd party file that eliminates the need to change setups just doesnt sound right to me. That is a major part of shift and our PBRC's, setting up the cars to see what cars are the fastest. As we have found out, changing controller files only fixes how the wheel reacts, it does not change the handling characteristics of the car. You still need to change setups to get faster times. Now i have no doubt "fixing" the FFB would improve lap times considerably, for me anyways. It would also make it easier to setup the cars because you could feel what the changes are actually doing. However it "should" not eliminate the need to change alignment or suspension settings to improve lap times. This will require a good amount of testing im sure, if i recall correctly, Wizard didnt have much time in testing setups after he made FFB changes, so hopefully he has been doing more testing of setup changes since his last post. Hopefully they got the FFB right in Shift2.

Thank you Jussi but I will withdraw the entry and from PBRC. Just to clear things up here for those who do not know what a dinput8.dll is or does. First it is not a file specific to Shift it is a file created by the Windows system in any game that uses a controller of any sort. It stands for Direct Input and is a Direct X file specific to controllers. So it could indeed be viewed as a 3rd party file although it resides in any games root directory. As for just dumping a file into the game that is far from reality. I did a comparison to the file in my rFactor installation to purely have some form of starting point. I had an enforced 3 days off due to lack of a car last week and spent those 3 days altering and testing the file until my wheel felt like it does in rFactor. It was not just the file but the wheel profile and in game settings that had to be changed multiple times to achieve what I wanted so it was certainly not just a matter of dropping a file in. As for the % advantage it may or may not give me that is like saying I can't use my G25 because I have an advantage over a keyboard user. The point of eliminating the need to change setups was possibly rather badly explained in my first post. It just makes the default setup for suspension quite effective Having said that I found the suspension settings had very little effect before I changed the file tire pressures and alignment having a far greater effect on the cars performance. All the other settings Steering lock, Alignment, Tire Pressure etc are still very important for a successful setup. All I wanted to achieve out of the whole exercise was to have my wheel behave the way I am used to so I apologies for any disruption I will wait for Shift2 and hope the have got the physics right this time. In the mean time I will see you on the Islands Jussi. B

Thank you for clearing that up Wizard, but I would still have liked to know if wrecord would have accepted your time using that dinput8.dll file. I tried searching for this topic related to Shift and it seems that there are like 20 mods out there giving you the handling from a real Sim to an arcade racing game. I see that people are tweaking the physics, changing tire grip and lowering weight of the cars. Just about everything one cae think of. Now most of them are to make the game harder, but if you can make the game harder you can surely also make it easier. Should we allow a 3rd party file in our PBRC´s - NO, because you never know what changes have been made. This is why I think we should adapt wrecord into our PBRC´s with Shift 2, because they will detect (as far as I know) any modifications.
I would very much like if someone knows differently to post his/hers comment about wrecord here, because if it is possible to cheat wrecord by some sort of alteration, I would like to know about it - so we can get it stopped or simply not use wrecord for Shift 2.
I guess Wizard that it is actually a modification to the game that dinput8.dll file - what it is called?

I don't think we'll need wrecord for Shift 2, some of the other members have already been asking inferio about Shift 2..... EA has the auto log server thats suppose to keep a update learders board, not like any learder boards in the pass versions of NFS games...

my opinion (even if its may not desired here): test the modified dll and try to see if its relsting to the Ingame physics of the gameplay. if it only changed the ffb and feel, and the ingame handling is still the same, it should be allowed. to test if it affects the ingame physics, the wrecord client should be used as well as our personal sense. the client itself detects ANY modification in the game files that are related to the game engine, the physics etc. only the controller defaults are excluded and we know that these are not relating to the physics. if the client shows an error, the mod may affects the physics and it should be forbidden, if it does not, it should be allowed, but i would greet if somebody wrote a small guide how to use the dll properly that we all could benefit.

EA has the auto log server thats suppose to keep a update learders board, not like any learder boards in the pass versions of NFS games... Sunny, Since MCO's days (the last EA cheat free game that I know off) EA never really care about keeping their games cheat free. They even reward racers using cheats with prices (Poul had challenge that EA name guy on that, and he never really reply on the challenge that I know off). History tells me that they don't care or they can't control that. Tools like they are using in wrecord is the only hope to see who is using what. This is my opinion on this issue anyways, and to tell you the truth I don't really care for EA's game lately. I do buy them and after a little while I let them collect dust (I buy almost every racing game out there anyways. Same with TDU2, that I only play for maybe 1 hour, and I din't bother anymore since I can't get the gear shifting to work for my controller). On another note I think Level R and Heat Online are a cheat free games. I'm not aware of any cheats, the only things I read is some exploits here and there. Spiko
