It's been a long time since I've played Shift. The last time I went online, I didn't recognize any names. I think I saw greenmonster, but he would leave right after entering a room so I think he was looking for someone.

Yea,,, we race all the time, DreamGate,Grnkjr0,aarog5606,Spiko, xXxHOTRIDExXx, TomasT, I jump in and out of rooms a lot, I don't like big rooms with more than 8 players. Or if I see players I don't like. I think your on PST time zone and maybe you get on to late for everyone else.

I did a quick visit of Shift online today, caught the tail end of a 6 way argument between players, Green Monster was there but left. I saw samlex and Tachyonic there also, two of the faster players (previously I thought these were the same player because their lap times are almost identical). It seemed that 6 players or so were griping about being rammed by each other in what appeared to be a 8 to 10 player race (I'm not sure how many had left before I joined). I was changing water on a fish tank so only got to do two races before I had to continue with the fish tank. In one of the two races, someone was griping about unpacked games, probably a reference to Tachyonic (samlex wasn't in that race), who is fast, but not world record fast like rtxus or Cipriani. Still I believe that NFS Shift is system sensitive as I'm able to go by "slower" players relatively easily, their cars don't seem to have as much grip and I'm able to outbrake them and out corner them holding an inside line. I remembered why I quit playing Shift online after that.

I'm one of the players Green doesnt like. Not sure why. Did 5 or 10 laps on the Tri Oval (tier 6)and was dragging him when he slowed down and I touched his bumper. I slammed on my brakes giving him about 15 car lenghts ahead of me. He proceeded to make a big fuss in the lobby about it like I ran him off the road or something. Then continued his fuss on another lobby about 10 minutes later. I was a little shocked. I was accused of being a rammer and not knowing how to drive (with swear words included). Since then he leaves the room every time I join.
How about sticking around for a race Green if you dont think I can drive. It's pretty lame to say that and then keep leaving. Anybody who know's me knows that I drive clean. I get rammed 5 times a race on purpose by people who do not apologize and I dont complain like that. I apologized right after and you went on ranting and raving in 2 lobbies about a little tap that didnt even skew your car in the least.

Blah, blah, blah its people like you that give this game a bad name. Beside the fact that you unpack your game files, along with all that extra speed and grip you still feel the need to slam someone into the wall on your way by. This wasn’t the first time you crashed me, after 8 or 9 times it’s time to speak out and tell you that you are a rotten driver. Dakota Tri-Oval the track is 8 lanes wide and we are on the last lap car rating 6.0 , Your 5 second behind me you catch up and slam me into the wall on a straight away and you still have enough speed to catch Mookie that’s 4 seconds ahead of me and pass him to win the race. You don’t think anyone noticed that dude. You're best lap time with a 6.0 car was 32.xx that is a little hard to beleive I don’t have time or the patience to drive with bad drivers. Sorry dude I’ll find another race.

First of all, I'd like to thank rcgldr for his setups. I found them on the internet. Since then, I can actually keep up with some of the better drivers such as GreenMonster.
Prior to that, when I was trying to make a turn going the same speed as GreenMonster, i would often spin out and cause an accident. People like GreenMonster would be the first one to complain about my driving abilities. As you can imagine, i was getting frustrated with the game. I can see by the pictures of his "rig" that his PC Is substandard.
I have a question for this forum. Is unpacking, or un-compiling the game cheating if it remains unmodded? I did not think so. I admit that I have been running "unpacked", however unmodded for 3 days now, and with rcgldr's setups and my game has improved significantly. If this is cheating, I'd like to know. I love this game and hate cheaters, I just want a fair clean race. My PC is blinding fast (see rig setup) so it is not a PC issue.
If what I have done is considered cheating I would like to appologize to the community and return my game to the previous state. I will also apologize to Green. I'm not here to cheat or make enemies.

mods - a bit off topic ... but I re-made no headshake and no blur mods, link below. You'll have to backup or rename two .bff files and rename the files from the zip which have a "1" added to the names to prevent accidental overwrite. These mods should not have any affect on performance, but due to Shift's system sensitivity, the reduced graphics load with no head shake mod might affect game play, although I did not see a difference in lap times on my system (Intel X6800 2.93ghz, ATI HD4870, at 1280x960 (CRT monitor)). rcgldr.net/nfss/nfssmods.zipEven without any mods, the gameplay in Shift isn't fair, it's system sensitive, unlike most racing games, and I think it's an accumulation of factors rather than just one component like nvidia running physx in gpu mode versus ati which has to run physx in cpu mode. It's more noticiable in the lower rank cars, 6.0, 10.0, 14.0, than unrestricted cars. There's already a thread about fairness in NFS Shift for this topic though.

Is it advisable to run PhysX on the GPU with a Nvideo GTx xxx or to run it at the CPU mode like you aught to when using ATI?

You can not run this game having the GPU do the Physics - always the CPU - no matter what graphics card you own. It is the way the game has Physics implemented - its software - not hard ware supported.
What name are you using online masterblaster72? Problem is that even if you start racing without cheats people will always have doubts - just look at Redarrow who now seems to be racing without using anything - problem is that he is very fast even without using cheats so people will always think he is using something. I used to race him in Undercover where he called himself Max60 - back then me and Cipriani was competing against each other with Cipriani winning 6-7 races out of 10 over me and Max60 was almost as fast as us. Suddenly he was much faster and it turned out you could make the cars go just a little faster by changing driver experience and use it online. Then we knew he was cheating and from then on everybody was using that cheat online. Just shows that now whenever I race Redarrow in Shift I always speculate if he changed anything to run his car just a little faster. But I do not think he has done that these 2 last months since I am winning most of the times we race.

You can not run this game having the GPU do the Physics - always the CPU - no matter what graphics card you own. It is the way the game has Physics implemented - its software - not hard ware supported. It's PhysX, and I don't know if it's used for physics or just the game's graphics. I've seen images of NFS Shift with PhysX:GPU overlayed on the screen so it definitely can be enabled. Even without the cheating, the game play in Shift isn't fair, it's system and/or controller sensitive. Anyone who ends up being fast, either a fast player on an average system, or an average player on a fast system, or the somewhat rare fast player on a fast system (wrecord holders), will end up getting cheat accusations from the slower players.
