This is the first class of the excellent info, Poul ! Just the one I needed ! Thanks very very much for this, you've must spend alot of time to the results of FPS benchmarking I'm so glad that I can run those cards without changing the PSU and my CPU will be enough fast. I'm not very skilled PC user (no knowledges about overclocking), so I do not overlock anything. I can wait until the Shift 2 is out, no problem (I only hope the card will not be destroyed, with temperatures like this). I assume that HD6950 is one of the newest GPU's, so EA could make support for them (otherwise I can hope). The CPU is just a next thing in my upgrading process, it is not hurry. It's a task of months, maybe year, untill I save enough money for total rebuild. I just need now increase my graphic quality and FPS, because low details and res. doesn't look so well I hope that new GPU will increase the FPS to 60-70, without AA and VSync, with resolution 1440x900 or 1680x1050. When I'll have enough money, I'll think about new motherboard, 4-core CPU, second GPU (if it will be possible in case od Radeon HD6950), new RAM and strong PSU. And Win 7 of course. My friends tell me that I don't need new case, so I could save on this some money. I'll go check out some benchmarks with nVidia 460GTX and Radeon HD6950 with dual core CPU (if I find some). Thanks guys ! Paul

Ok Poul, here is furmark stability test after 5 minutes with stock values. I can only change cpu fan speed with my motherboard, there is no way to change the peripheral fans speeds.

Aaron those temperatures are way too high - what fan speed do you run? If you do not know - then download MSI Afterburner here: event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm Open it and where it says fan speed% - click on auto and manually set it to 100% and see how loud that is. 88 degrees celcius is way too high on stock settings. You need some airflow. Edited: Do not run Furmark anymore until temperature is dealt with. You risk burning that card, because Furmark really stresses graphics cards. Poul

Something is wrong Aaron with your fps. I ran same time attack as you and got this with everything maxed out and at 1920x1200: I start the bench when it says go, and stop again when I hit finish line. Of course this was with 900 Mhz core and 2200 Mhz memory overclocked. 2011-05-10 17:03:16 - SHIFT 2 UNLEASED (TM) Limited E Frames: 6682 - Time: 78594ms - Avg: 85.019 - Min: 73 - Max: 92 2011-05-10 17:06:28 - SHIFT 2 UNLEASED (TM) Limited E Frames: 6570 - Time: 77860ms - Avg: 84.382 - Min: 76 - Max: 92 Your card should be 10-15 fps faster than one of my GTX460´s and as far as I know - SLI still does not work, all though I have both running. When I open Afterburner - there is no activity on the 2nd card - so I know SLI is not working until my game get proper patched. Maybe it is my CPU overclock of 4.2 GHz that makes this much difference Open Afterburner and see what is going on. Poul

Ok Poul, My gpu fan was only at 40%, i just used Afterburner to max it out but it only goes to 75%. Why not 100%? I also cannot take a screenshot of afterburner(it has "none" for the screen capture hotkey and wont let me change it), do i have to pay to get all the utilities? Anyway, i can hear the fan now that its at 75% at least. I just ran Shift2 benchmark using fraps(is that what you used?) 2011-05-10 16:54:17 - shift2u Frames: 18511 - Time: 307025ms - Avg: 60.292 - Min: 47 - Max: 85 [/size] What program should i use to check for artifacts and temps if not Furmark? I read that some use ATItool because its not as hard on the gpu as Furmark, should i use it?

Yes I always test with FRAPS benchmark. And no, MSI is a free utility, that has built in adjustable voltage for your card.
Heaven benchmark is a great program for testing, but why not just run Shift 2? When we know that your airflow has been optimized, then just run 3 laps at a track with lots of activity. If temperatures are fine, then start increasing GPU core, my guess is with temperatures under 75 C, you will hit 930 Mhz. But I will help you once you figure out why it only says 75% fan speed. Open up MSI Afterburner and see what has been checked out under settings - that is below to the right from the reset button. If under fan control it says "Enable user defined software automatic control" - then uncheck that and then crank up the fan speed.

Whats the Shift 2 Benchmark?, if there a link post it so I can run it...Damn I missed a few weeks and get left behind... Poul Hey Poul, i went through all the settings to see if something was unchecked, causing it not to go to 100%, but i dont see anything that will help. I will take some screenshots to show you real quick. I will also run another 5 min. time attack and check temps. I like that Afterburner shows temps on my keyboard(G15)!

Just ran 5 minute time attack and temp never went above 50c. I want to stay below 70c, right?

Uncheck that "Enable user defined software automatic control", Aaron. 70c is high, but not too high. But try out 100% fan speed, then crank up core to 900 and see if you crash. Only thing will happen, is that your Nvidia driver will have to reload if it is a no go. And fix those pictures, my screen is stretched to the limit.

OMG, just had to install some updates for Windows 7. Like last time it would not update when you shut down the computer and then restart. If you get into trouble and the Windows 7 screen locks, then wait for it to do an override of the updates and then go to updates and press install - then restart. What is funny is the fact that my Logitech G25 wheel made 10 calibrations during the reboot - looked really funny with the stop and go.
